I'm so going to ruin my grade this block by watching all the Indiana Jones movies I got for Christmas, and finishing off the Arrested Development that my friend and I didn't finish watching before the micro final.

Indiana Jones #4 filming this year.

also...we are in need of watching He-Man and some MST3K, children.

Sí, and play some awesome games, like Apples to Apples and Mad Gab.

But not this Friday. I think I have to go to central Illinois for my great-grandma's funeral. =( The stupid people at the hospital couldn't get an IV in her, so she basically dehydrated and starved to death after she fell.

Sad way to go...sorry to hear that. 🙁 How old was she? My great-grandma in-law is still alive and kicking, even though she claimed she was going to go off dialysis and let herself die after she made it to our wedding.

99. I was planning on going to her 100th birthday in October if I had time off. =(

On a cooler note. We had a fun SDN reunion at lunch. All the cool people were stopped by. 😉

okay, I think I'm going to buy BRS Phys, Costanzo's Phys, and Wheater's histology book (total: $157, which is a lot less than undergrad books - usually $350+ each semester), but I'll stop by the bookstore tomorrow to see if they have any of those for less than Amazon, because they'll beat the price for you. Guyton's is $104 at the bookstore, but if I need it, I'll get it off reserve at the library. I shouldn't have bought Moore's and the Devo book. I really only needed my Netter and my Netter flashcards.

Did you get Costanzo's Physiology 3rd edition? How does the BRS phys book look?

I'm gonna have to order Costanzo's book online because they didn't have it in the bookstore (although the woman at Matthews wasn't too helpful), but you can save a dollar on BRS Phys if you print off the Amazon.com price sheet ($37.95 vs. $36.95, haha). And Wheater's is back-ordered on Amazon, so I bought it at the bookstore. The BRS Phys book is pretty lean though - I was expecting more of something like the Lippincott's biochem book, but since the M2s recommended it, I thought I'd try it. Definitely not going the Guyton route at this point. At the moment, I'm gonna forego all neuro books except the Nolte photo atlas I got from my big sib.

😡 I don't know if I should be more upset by the snub or the grammar. 😀

At least I got to see Xandie on her way into Satan's...er...Jean Sunby's office. What were all the 3rd years hanging out at school for?

Bite me. I have had 8 hours of sleep in the last 3 days. My grammar in non-graded things tends to go quickly. =þ My grammar on instant messengers is always non-existent.

Do any of you work during the school year?

Wheater's is around $33 with shipping from Abebooks.com, but of course that means it won't be here for the first lab. Dr. Krippendorf told me not to bother copying the pages; just sit with someone who's got their book already.

We had an 8 hour intersession on Professionalism and Patient-Centered Care. First day of second semester every year for the third years. Fun times.

I was at the reunion! Woot. I even saw Jesse... even though he tried to hide from me. 👎

Contest time. I have a copy of Wheater's Atlas that is one edition old (all pics are there, just a couple pages removed from where they are in the new edition--easy to find) that I would be willing to lend a lucky M1 for the semester. The catch is as follows: the winner must be the first to guess and post a picture from my favorite Will Ferrell movie. Oh, and they should probably want to pick it up tomorrow when I make a rare appearance at MCW.

Oh, and hi Xandie. Didn't see you there. 😉

Check out shopzilla.com. They'll search for the cheapest price on pretty much any product. Here is a link to Costanzo's book: http://www.shopzilla.com/9L--Physiology_With_Student_Consult_Access_-_cat_id--8032__prod_id--376754211

Do any of you work during the school year?

i pull a 24 hour straight shift once a month at a private ambulance service, but there's enough downtime that it's not a huge deal. I wouldn't recommend working any jobs that require you to actually be doing something the whole time you are there.

Do any of you work during the school year?

Yes, I do.. quite a bit. Depending on the rotation, sometimes as much as 20 hours a week. Xandie=poor.

This day could possibly be the second most boring day of my entire tenure at MCW.

It seems that learning about professionalism would be a good thing to do before starting in the clinic.

Come now, dear Ashleigh. We've learned all there is to professionalism through the administration's intolerance for student tardiness, misplaced chairs, and the draconian fines associated with overdue library camcorders.

Big Brother is watching, and he knows a thing or two about professionalism.

Ahh yes, silly me. Professionalism and its cousin, Flexibility.

Okay, I'll try it, only I don't know how to attach pictures.

We have a winner! Anchorman is quite possibly God himself speaking to us through Will Ferrell. I'll be sure to pack the Wheater's for tomorrow, and you can surely find me at noon somewhere in the cafeteria or student lounge. 😉 No hugs though. That will get you disqualified.

I love smiling; smiling's my favorite!

We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup.

One of my favorite quotes from any movie:

**answering phone** "Buddy the Elf! What's your favorite color?" The delivery is perfect.

I wanna say something. I'm gonna put it out there; if you like it, you can take it, if you don't, send it right back. I want to be on you.

Ashers, hope I'm not disturbing you, but, uh, I saw you from across the party, and, uh, I don't usually do this, but I felt compelled to tell you something. You have an absolutely breathtaking heinie. I mean, that thing is good. I want to be friends with it.

Oh, don't worry. I won't mess THIS up!

Tsk, tsk. Drinking the first day back!

I'm back!!! You should all be so lucky.

So going back a couple pages...I recommend Everclear with apple cider. It's got a nice kick.

Sorry to hear about your great-grandma Ashleigh. My 100-yo and 99-yo great grandparents gave about 15 of us at Christmas some sort of virus they acquired at the nursing home. So I just got back tonight instead of yesterday.

On Saturday, we played Apples to Apples for 5 hours.

I got Arrested Development Season 3 for Christmas. Yeah!!! Now I just need to go download the rest.

Legos are awesome.

Will Ferrell is awesome as well.

I suppose I should consider going to bed soon if I'm actually gonna go to school tomorrow. Since I didn't make it today, the rest of the week seems so pointless.

Welcome back, pete.

I got some virus over break too, but I think it's just some type of common cold.

Other news: Just scheduled Step 1...June 6. Ugh.

June 9th for me. I'm glad Marc and I won't be at the testing center on the same day. Oh, and Prowler, M2's are done with school on the 10th of May, so it's more like 3 and a half weeks. The consensus from previous classes seems to be about 3-4 weeks of studying...much more than that and you start going stir-crazy.

3-4 weeks is about right, I think. Any longer and you'll go craaaaaaaaaazy.

The key is developing a schedule, and then sticking to it.

So this is what wisconsin's devistatingly cold winters are like?

So how does one go about developing a schedule? I've seen a few from other posters on the USMLE forum, and they are extensive! Most people plan out their whole day of studying for every day until the test, down to the minute! How did you do it?

You got it. This year has obviously been unseasonably warm. Usually January has a little bit of a thaw, but nothing like this. Last year February was the bad month...it was colder than a witch's teat for the entire month.

Yeah, I remember that. Frost on the inside of my apartment windows was bad, then my down jacket froze when I went outside. It sucked.

I do, however, like this weather. Or rather, don't mind it. I had to wear long pants, long sleeve t-shirt and gloves to bike today instead of shorts and t-shirt.
