yeah, didn't high pass biochem here either. I was like 2% away from high-passing (the horrible, horrible final caused that), and I was like 10% away from low-passing. so....I could've studied a lot less for the final, because I studied a LOT for it.

Me too. What was the cut off for High pass in biochem? 78? I think I missed it by around 1/2 of 1 percent. Nice.

My neuro grade went up a bunch now that they've modified 5 questions.

At -5 degrees, are there hypothermic birds falling out of the sky?

I thought birds were just smarter than people, and that's why they went south. Apparently, I was wrong, and they don't re-loculate.

and we have to be careful, or the cold might give us livers of the tumor.

no, the cut-off was an 83.7% for high pass. My neuro grade only went up by one. Go figure, I got all the "tough" questions right in the first place 🙄

Which question did they change, did they throw any out?

they changed a bunch (like a total of 5), accepting all answers for a few and adding a few other options for a couple more

I wonder it they will post which ones they have changed? What did you think of the test today

Jeeze. Turns out I'm not good at being a med student. This blows.

Funk, as it turns out, I am more of a ninja than you are. at least in the superficial sense. you will find out why soon.

Please tell me this means you shurikened a member of the school administration.

Indo, hang in there. It sounds like your guys' first neuro test was wayy harder than ours...you had all the most difficult lectures concentrated into one block from what I've been told.

the hardest one for me was the lecture where we were actually tested on where the majority of our tuition DOESN'T go.

i think the correct answer to where it DOES go is "down the toilet."

or, "for parking structures we can't use"

Thanks for the advice everyone.

You're welcome. Ask more anytime. You can see how we love to watch ourselves write. It IS your class's thread, after all.

Um.

I'm sure there's room for you in here someplace.

Indo, Do you know which 5 questions on the Neuro test they are now accepting multiple answers for?

#1 is 3 or 5
#17 is all
#32 is 2 or 3
#34 is 4 or 5

on the blue sheet....not the white. I have no idea about the white.

done.

"combo clava" can be used as a neck warmer, face warmer, hat, or combination of all at once!!!

either that or i look like one of the bad guy GI Joes.

Wow. An active phys forum.

The problem with exams in medical school is that they are artificially difficult. The material, while large in volume, is not difficult to grasp. So, in order to create a scoring gradient and rank the class the instructors have to think of difficult ways to word the questions. Arg!

You make one heckuva ninja. Let's start the "Funk Clan" and go find us some turtles with martial arts expertise to fricassee.

So wait. They had all 80-some lectures condensed into one block? Because I couldn't for the life of me separate out easy and hard lectures in that class. You know, other than Stekiel. He was just unholy.

Oh, THAT. I've had one for years, for winter biking. I just can't get my hands warm enough for that these days, though.

So how do these "discussion forums"' work? If enough people complain do the questions get removed? Also, the people who are posting just to correct people...do they generally sit near the front?

the posting to correct people thing happened once in our class...then it stopped.

as for complaining, it's more the quality of complainers than quantity. don't go pulling out old journal articles and such as some people do.

the other downside is that it makes it very convenient for gunners to try to contest every single question they get wrong in the hopes they've found a loophole.

If they do, they sit behind me.

People still posted to correct people and stuff even after that email was sent out to everyone in the class. The discussion forums are entertaining. Those took away from my neuro studying time.

I always got tired of all the "I agree" comments, but I guess it could be necessary.

these exams are going to give me post-operative dumping.

of course, I didn't do too bad on his questions. it was Hillard and Link that sank this here Titanic.

I know, right? How about we let the faculty decide if it's legit or not? I don't see "Professor" in front of your name, you-know-who-you-are-even-if-she-doesn't-post-here.

I'll never let go! ...until you lose conciousness, then you're on your own. haha.

near, far..........

haha
I'm going on our phys message board and typing "A/S/L?"

back in undergrad one of our classes had a discussion board for asking the professor questions. The professor's last name was conveniently phonetically identical to a particular character from South Park....that christmas poo thing.

anyway, one of the students was clever enough to make this connection, but not clever enough to realize their name was attached to whatever they posted...and they ever so-cleverly posted a huge "hahha! it's mr. hanky the christmas poo!" on the message board.

that got deleted pretty quick.

ahhhhh, just one more test in an hour, and med school will be DONE. for three days.

Haha...good move.

I took an astronomy class that had an open message board. Some people chewed the instructor out after the first, open book/ open note, exam. They even used the "my tuition money pays your paycheck" line. Finally some student wrote, "if you all think this anonymous forum is truly anonymous you are wrong." Then the bickering stopped. The instructor is an astrophysicist and he has a bunch of 18 year olds looking for an easy grade ridiculing his "grammer". haha.

pwnt. You can take your parka off indoors, you know. just fyi.

there's somebody that a lot of us would like to chew out for the open forum responses, but seeing how the profs will be looking at it soon, mum's the word.

so, M-2s, will the phys profs review all the posts, or should we e-mail them the contested questions?

Just post in the forum, that's the appropriate place to contest a question for this class. The profs will read every post and make a ruling on each question that is challenged, whether it's challenged by 1 or 50 people.

P.S. Please give us some copypasta of the most hilarious exchanges on the discussion forum.

I was pretty cold and I hate carrying things.

I can name 2 or 3 people that ought to stop holding online tutor sessions on the phys message board. I don't know who they are in class though.

There is anothe question that nobody is posting about that will have 2 correct answers. It was the one regarding the lipid membrane being composed of glycerol backbones. In the notes they show examples of lipids with serine and another kind of backbone that I can't remember. I think it was question #6 but I could be way off. It was one of those EXCEPT questions.

Think anyone will go to class tomorrow?

Edit: It was #12 about the lipids 'n such.

You guys are spoiled

Back in my day, we had tests on Fridays, Mondays, and Tuesdays! That meant both weekends were ruined, and they were sure to weigh you down with 3 or 4 lectures a day after tests were done to make sure you had to do some studying in the weekend after tests too. We didn't have any of those fancy "study days" that you kids are always going on about either.

And you want to know what? We loved every minute of it.

The class of '09 didn't even have doors within which to take their parkas off!
