Tuition and fees at MCW OOS ~160K for four years
Tuition and fees at UIC OOS ~270K for four years

Decision made, good luck at MCW.

If the above is true, your decision has been made.

Any other reasons besides the tuition? I would feel more confident if I had some of those as well.

Is living in Chicago worth an extra $130,000 not counting the interest?

One school doesn't have anything that the other doesn't, and additionally MCOW has CHOW, which is one of the better children's hospitals in the country.

I don't really care too much about living in Chicago vs. Milwaukee. I am expecting to be too busy with med school to spend too much time exploring the city. I was wondering a little more about the school and student life, resources, etc. Any info?

Pretty much the greatest threads in the history of this sub-forum are from MCW. I invite you to take a look:

And this is a thread that discussed a lot of the pros and cons of MCW (it's a quick read too ;)) - http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=615354

MCW as a school seemed to have their stuff together (from the interview day at least). They have a plethora of hospitals on-site to rotate through and are definitely expanding their reputation in the research arena. That, plus reasonable tuition (for OOS), seals the deal. Plus, Milwaukee is going to be cheaper to live in than Chicago.

How did you get 160K for MCW?

I thought it was more like 220K?

I believe it's just tuition not cost of living.

Isn't UIC OOS cost of attendance something like 320K for 4 years?

Yep, those were both just tuition and fees, not COA. OOS COA for uic is 350K, I'm not sure about MCW's.

Ah, icic. My mistake. I read tuition and fees, and I somehow assumed fees = everything other than tuition including living costs.

Wow, UIC is that expensive!? Dang!
