Hey folks,

I see from the "similar threads" box that there are already threads about MD/MPH, but I have a more specific question: if I select the MD/MPH option on AMCAS, will my application be judged much harsher than another applicant? And if I were not selected for the MD/MPH program, would they consider me for the regular MD program, or am I just screwed? This is something I've been stressing about!!!

Thanks all,

Andrew

I think that you will be judged "harsher" but you will definitely be considered for the normal applicant pool if you dont get accepted md/phd

I think that if you check off MD/MPH on the AMCAS itself, it won't mean anything. For many of the schools, you have to get into the MD program first, and then you could apply for the MPH. Some schools, you apply for MD/MPH right away but you have to check off that option on the secondary and then probably submit another MPH or usually write another essay giving your specific interest in MPH. Overall, your application will not be looked at any differently if you check off the MPH option on AMCAS.

It all depends on the school. Some schools ask on AMCAS simply because they want to know. Other schools have a very rigid program and accept you into the MD/MPH program, so will be judging your ability to accel in both.

Perhaps you care share a specific school and that way someone could shed some insight?
