So I am currently accepted at a medical school which has also wait listed me for MD/PhD. I am also wait listed at four other MD/PhD programs. My mother became extremely ill halfway through the application cycle ( I had already started interviews) so no matter what happens I am deferring my med school acceptance/ hopefully an MD/PhD acceptance for a year to help her get back on her feet. I am wondering if I am still on these wait lists mid May should I tell the schools I intend to defer anyways and hope they'll consider me for next year's class? Ultimately I want to be an MD/PhD, but will take the med school acceptance and reapply the next year internally.
