Hey guys whats the difference in the curriculum. I mean are all the basic sciences that are taught the same (like immunology, endocrinology and all those sciences) or are any of the basic sciences omitted?

all of the curriculum is the same with the exception that D.O. schools include a number of hours in OMM.

I thought you were too good for DO school? jk. With the exception of OMM, they are all pretty much the same. Each school has it's own unique curriculum and quirky strengths, similar to MD schools. someone once wrote that the differences between DO schools are often greater than the differences between MD and DO as a whole.

Random question:

As a DO do we have to write all the the COMLEX steps? I.e. if we write the USMLEs and go the into a MD res, do we still have to write all the COMLEX steps to be licensed? I know this is a stupid question but Im getting conflicting answers

depends on the state(s) you practice in. You'll have to do COMLEX 1, 2, and PE for graduation. After that all that's left is COMLEX 3.

For applying to ACGME residencies you really should take USMLE 1, maybe also 2. No evidence so far of places wanting the USMLE version of the PE.

Some state licensure boards require DOs to be licensed via COMLEX. Others allow either COMLEX or USMLE. Since you're already taking all but 1 COMLEX exam by the time you graduate medical school and you have no reason to take every one of the USMLE exams at that point, it would seem wise to just take COMLEX 3 and be done with it. That way you won't limit your state choices later on down the road.
