I think the people with awesome stats want to boast, and so post them. THe people with humbler stats tend to be more shy about their stats (although not me, my profile is up there). How the heck do we know if those stats are even true? We don't. I don't believe a lot of them - and I don't care if they are true, I just feel like, good for them, ride the high while you can. They will be humbled at some point in life, you can't escape it. I already got humbled last year, so I am feeling less paranoid this year.

Don't fret, there's a big possibility that a lot of those are BS. You'd be surprised how people have a tendency of, what they seem to consider as, "slight" modifications.

Dude, your posts are all over the forum, and you've shown everyone that every damn thing you read or hear is scary. This forum provides a lot of information and help to many people. Littering a forum with your feelings won't help you or anyone else. People are getting irritated by it.

Without a medical degree, I can already prescribe a treatment: grow a backbone and end this trash thats being posted.

You aren't perfect and neither is anyone else. Not even those 48T/4.5 gpa folks at godapplicants.com, even if they were admitted into a high profile school. There is more to do in life than to compare yourself to other people. Figure this out fast for your own sake.

chill dude. there's more to admissions than numbers. even the cream of the cream will probably get several rejections. and that guy got into two EXCELLENT schools (your 42 mcat thread). more people should post in mdapplicants. unfortunately, the sample size isn't big enough to portray an accurate representation of med school admissions. people need to put more comments on there too. just looking at the numbers is boring and not very helpful. the good profiles are the ones where people explain their ECs, why they think they were rejected from certain schools, stuff they wish they had done, etc. mdapplicants can be a great resource, but take it with a grain of salt. Contrary to mdapps, the average applicant profile is not something like 3.7 and 34

For example, if you search for all those people accepted into a certain school, count the number represented in a year, and then divide that number by how many the school historically accepts a year, you will find that mdapplicants is representative of only 4% of the population of those accepted. Needless to say, it makes intuitive sense that this 4% is not a evenly distributed representation either. Okay, not trying to convince you of the math really but just... my point is... chill out!

How can you compare yourself to a profile on a website...
First of all......the interview process is intregral.
Do you believe that every profile in teh site is accurate......
You are better looking at teh official numbers chart on the AAMC website. It reflects all the applicants and the data is 100% accurate.

ok i guess i used the wrong terminology in my original post...sorry. I had no idea this site wasn't for real; i just came across it the day I made this post and being the naive, trusting person that i am, i of course trusted it completely. Of course i wasn't scared the way i would be if i was violently attacked by the Cookie Monster or some other similar character, but i meant it freaked me out to see so many people with such high stats being rejected. Sorry for causing all this fuss.

mdapplicants is still pretty new and it will continue to be more useful and more representative if people post from the full spectrum of applicants. it might seem a little frightening but encouraging caution in this process hardly seems harmful. i think it would be nice to be appreciative of the efforts those are making to help everyone along on this process and be a little less critical.
