MDapplicants.com Relaunched

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
it just recently started working for me, after about 3 weeks of being down. You can try a proxy in the meantime, that worked for me.

is not possible to make your profile anonymous on this website anymore? if you can, then how?

Woefully, these sorts of large scale network connectivity issues are mostly out of my control. I will be looking into switching hosting providers, but I am generally baffled by the handful of people who simply cannot connect.

Dreamhost has unlimited bandwidth and is fair reliable. Just a thought >.> I can access MDapps from my university (when it isn't just plain down) so... that's good news.

One thing I don't see that I liked on the old site, when hunting through schools that might be a good fit, are the average scores for the schools. Used to when you selected a school, it showed you (I thought) the lists based on applied, offered interview, interviewed but rejected, and accepted, with averages for each. The current site is MUCH less useful from that regard now.

That ought not to be too difficult to re-add.

The site will not open at all for me in either Firefox 3.5 or IE 8, but does open immediately with Google Chrome. However, the site stalls when I attempt to search profiles even in Chrome. I've never had any connection issues with my internet provider before - I'd be very surprised if these problems weren't totally on the mdapplicants end. Has anyone discovered a workaround? If anyone from mdapplicants is reading this - can you guys please get this looked at? You provide such an amazing service - it's such a shame not to have it working properly. Thanks!

Maybe it is a browser issue. It worked at my school's library using IE7 and FF3.0 (i believe), but not on my pc running Ubuntu 9.04 and FF3.5.

Just reverted back to IE7, and still nada. It just hangs - no "page not found" error or anything... I just pinged it from a cmd prompt and it's definitely up in some capacity... anyone know what the heck is going on?

Ok - just had a friend in North Carolina (with the same browser) check, and it opens fine for him. He's using Time Warner as an ISP - I'm in Ohio using Comcast. I have to imagine it has something to do with geography or ISP? Craziness.

xaelia - awesome job keeping this site going. love it. helps keep me organized and see what's going within the schools that i'm interested in. thank you.

this may have been asked and answered, but if so, i missed it... when i search for current year stats (i.e acceptances, interviews, etc.), i don't get much. does 2009 refer to the current year? are 2009 profiles not searchable 'til next year? thanks!!

I still have no idea why certain ISPs can't access the site. I'd like to say I'm working on something/anything related to the site at the moment, but I'm on trauma surgery until mid-November, so...steady as she goes.

MD/PhD search results aren't 100% correct.

I see 1072 results for applied in 2009. Some of the language needs to be fixed on the search page.

One of the things I noticed the other day... I wet to look at University of Colorado profiles, and there was one I clicked on that was listed under CU that only applied to Texas schools and like 3 AMCAS schools... none of which were CU.

Suggesetion: How about a feature where you can put in your stats and get a "closest match?" So if you put in 3.73, 12/12/10, and California, you can find the top 20 profiles with the most similar stats from California. And if you put in "UCLA" as your undergrad, you can find the closest 20 profiles from California and with UCLA as their undergrad...

MDApplicants.com seems to be down tonight. Is it just my computer, or is it down for everyone's?

Down for me too. I get something like this:

Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Too many connections in /usr/www1/docs/radecki/mdapplicants.com/core/includes/classes/class.core.data.php on line 25
Could not connect: Too many connections

Been down since around early afternoon today for me.

Everyone still surviving the new mdapplicants? Search results look the way you expect them to? Someone pointed out something in the search results that was inconsistent way back when, but I never had a day off to fix it....

MDapplicants works great! I have not noticed any glitches since the last fix. Great job xaelia!
