Hello. I made this suggestion in the OB forum but didn't get any traction. Here goes my second attempt:

Remember MDApps when you were applying to medical school? Did you, like me, find it to be a useful tool for gauging your competitiveness? Wouldn't it be helpful if we had an MDApps for medical students rather than college students? For example, I know someone with a science GPA < 3.0 who was still accepted to at least one school. That's pretty inspiring for those of us with low GPAs. Similarly, I would be encouraged by a person who didn't honor OB matching into OB. If anyone agrees this would be a good idea, please feel free to make something similar to MDApps. Okay, thank you for your consideration!

Only has ROAD, neurosurg, & ENT though. Maybe you should:

1. Find a computer whiz in your class
2. Work with them to launch a better version of matchapplicants.com that includes all specialties
3. Pimp it out to COMBANK, MedEdits, Ross, Lippincott etc... advertisers
4. Profit

It wouldn't be as useful for residency. First off, grades aren't really standard, so you don't have a "GPA." Some schools are all P/F 1st 2 years. There are more intangibles in the residency app, like great LORs from key people and types of research papers.

It is a good idea but I think it would be less anonymous (i.e. 3.8 GPA and 34 MCAT vs. research, class rank, step 1, step 2, LOR from chair, leadership in ____, etc.)

With all that said, certain specialties have their own forums that kind of serve this function.
