Can anyone who has deferred med school a year to later enter and take on debt tell me how deferring a year affects your financial aid status/scholarships/etc? If a school offers you a scholarship or certain financial aid this year does that still stand even if you defer?

I'm finding it impossible to get this question answered, maybe someone who has been through it can help me?

Generally speaking, the financial package offered to you is offered for that year only. You will have to sign something accepting or declining any monies offered to you. The scholarship money that you decline will be awarded to somebody else, and hence won't be "waiting for you" later. You can of course compete again for that award in the year that you apply. Why are you waiting a year?
