So, in my interview packets I've gotten information on housing at a medical fraternity. It's a great housing option, but what is a medical fraternity? What do they do? And if/how they're different from undergrad frats?

Thanks

A med frat is usually just a really watered down frat. Kind of like a co-op really. At mine we don't have hazing, drunken parties every night, stupid initiation BS, or anything that you'd think a typical frat might do. Most of medical frats are usually also co-ed... the vibe is really different. Plus everyone is a med student, how wild and crazy can they be?

hmmm...at my undergrad we def. have some frats that are full of street pharmacists...

I bet someone from your school didn't rape and torture a girl in one of your parking lots... :scared: SOOOOOOOOOO embarassing for the rep of my school and sad for the girl

Can you join as MS2?

Do any members live out on their own as MS3/4?

Greetings,

At Jefferson we have 5 medical fraternities. One of them is co-ed. All are houses which provide housing for members, especially during years 1 & 2.

Since they are mostly funded by alumni money, living in the fraternity is virtually free ($100-150/month...compare this to $900/mo for a 1 bdr for Center City Philadephia).

Most of the fraternies do have private taps, billiards, and other fraternity "essentials". Parties are usually held post-exam, or for other events such as Halloween.

we must go to the same school! althouigh on different coasts. that happens all the time at my school, but it's actually usually in the intramural fields. but i think it happens something around 8 or 9 times a year or semester, not sure of the numbers. but rumour has it that because of so many people getting raped, they had to put in "rape steps", they are designed for the female stride when they're running, but not for men, so it's harder for men to go up and down those steps, thereby allowing the girl a chance to run away.

wow, that's messed up...
