Hello everyone!

I just received my first acceptance and am thrilled. However, now I need to disclose a misdemeanor DUI from the beginning of this year (while sitting in the drivers seat of a parked car...d'oh), because there was not previously a necessity on my app to do so (not yet convicted, but likely to be). Is there anyone who has done this, known someone who has, or has experience from the administrative side, who has advice on going about this? I really want to get as much info as I can before I do.

Medical schools do not take these things lightly. People lose acceptances over DUIs. You need to act promptly; the longer you keep this from them, the worse it will look.

AMCAS instructions:
You must inform the Admission Office of each medical school to which you apply if you
are convicted of, or plead guilty or no contest to, a misdemeanor or felony crime after the
date of your original application submission and prior to medical school matriculation. This
communication must be in writing and must occur within ten (10) business days of the
occurrence of the conviction.

You need not report until it is official. Don't get in a panic and get ahead of yourself. Have you hired legal representation?

Yes, and am advised that it is likely going to end in conviction. Live in a very strict area. I was just thinking I would rather disclose it myself than have it come up on a background check, or hang my hopes on this school only to get rescinded down the line.
