Hi everyone,
I was wondering if you could tell me what days interviews are typically held? I heard none are offered over weekends so I am assuming they are from M-F throughout the fall semester/quarter?

Thanks!

Some schools interview after January 1, some don't. You are correct in assuming that interviews are held Monday through Friday. Most schools don't hold interviews daily but have one or more days each week for interviewing.

As @LizzyM stated it varies per school. FWIW and n=1 my school does do interviews on the weekends and will do interviews well into the evening.

I had one interview on a Saturday, so it is possible.

Getting time off was REALLY difficult for me, particularly since you cannot give a ton of advance notice and interviews are often in the middle of the week. If you have a job or class - I had both - definitely let them know early that you will be sporadically missing days over the course of many months, but for something formative and essential to your future.

The exact interview days will vary from school to school. My school interviews M-Th, but only has 6-8 students per day. One school I interviewed at only interviewed on Wednesdays. One school interviewed every other Monday and Friday.

It's difficult to predict what will be the best dates for you to interview, but I suggest trying to have at least M or F off, and putting your required classes (those that grade you for being there) on T or Th so you have a bit more flexibility.

Yep, M-F, although there's variability between schools. My school doesn't interview on Thursdays, for instance. Some schools only interview MWF or TWH. A small handful of schools might offer weekend interviews, but they're definitely the exceptions.

Interview activity tends to pick up in August and continues most commonly into February-March, although some schools will interview into April. When exactly your "peak" activity will occur is hard to predict but I imagine is related largely to when you submit your app and how competitive you are. Competitive applicants will likely hear back earlier than less competitive applicants. The earlier you're complete at a school, the earlier you'll likely start receiving interview invites.

None of these things are set in stone, though.

How far in advance did the school let you know when you would be interviewed? I know you said it wasn't much in advance...Was it enough time to give the people at your job fair warning for you to have the day off?

It depends. One school gave me an II, and when I went to pick the date, only one option was available. Three days from then. It actually ended up being the school I'm matriculating at. 😛

There were others where I had a month or so notice, so somewhere in that window.

Agree with this. It's pretty variable, expect a 2-4 weeks but be ready for just about anything.
