med student with orgo c's?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got C's in both, and havent been accepted, but I was waitlisted at 3 schools, and told by a few others they would have interviewed me except my application was in in like mid october so there spots were already limted. i.e. get it in EARLY

take biochem or another higher chem class and get an A. I'm not high on the whole retake thing, but to each his own.

this is exactly my situation.

C in orgo 1, B- in orgo 2. A in biochem.

here's hoping.

my faculty advisor got a D in biochem, then later wound up teaching biochem at that school. Just goes to show.

BTW, the school was Harvard.

anyone ever hear of a student being accepted to med school with two C's in orgo 1 and 2 and no retakes?

Hi there,
If these are the only two Cs that you have, you are probably going to be fine. Just make sure your total GPA is competitive and your MCAT is solid.

njbmd 🙂

i got a C- in orgo 1 and C in orgo 2. but a B+ in biochem, so wondering what my chances would be like, but the Cs are my lowest grade. no other Cs..

do med schools know how hard the chem dept at ur school is ? cuz i def have friends who got ochem tests that were multiple choice and short answers, ours were 3 hrs long and ridiculously hard, but i gues sthats no excuse.

Yes, for more well-knowns schools.

I spoke with an adcom member (he, ironically, was an oral surgeon who removed my wisdom teeth) once who knew that Princeton and Northwestern had relatively hard orgo sequences.

C is for chemistry!

In gen-chem, orgo, and biochem, i think i only got a combined 2 B's (I was on quarters/effectively trimesters, so we had 3 terms per school year) and I am starting M1 next year!! Just rock the MCAT!!

Yup C in Orgo and C in Calc I, but killed everything else. Starting med school in less than a month.
