Do med students of schools where the undergrad campus is nearby ever interact with undergrads? Eg. join undergrad clubs since they have more available and maybe make some friends, etc.

You can, but most people don't. Med school is it's own little bubble.

In some situations you can. At my school we have an intramural sports group that competes with undergrads. On occassion some pre-med related group will invite us to this or that program. I've taken a couple courses at the undergrad and interacted with them in that context. My lab also has a bunch of undergrads.

And, of course, many of my classmates date them.

I serve as an advisor for an undergrad organization that I was in. I also do some mentoring with the pre-health office. I think it's a bit odd to actually get involved as a member in undergrad organizations though. You aren't an undergrad anymore unfortunately.

I know some Med students that do it here. But IMO it's just kind of weird since a med student has graduated from that, and wouldn't they rather exercise their efforts towards classmates/medical school opportunities? But to each their own.

I'd say a good chunk of MS1+2's interact with pre-meds from our campus. Some of the med student clubs interact with the pre-med clubs as support. A lot of them actually work together in the student-run clinics also.

But I wouldn't say they hang out and make friends necessarily.

as a fourth year undergrad, my group of friends that frequented bars together included several M2s/M3s, a renowned orthopedic surgeon, a family practitioner, and 2 (male) hospital receptionists.. in addition to a bunch of undergrads. it was kind of awesome.

basically, i assume it will be what you make it.

All depends on the school, and probably a lot on location too. All of Pitt's schools are on the same campus, so we interact with dental/pharm/nursing/PH/law students and undergrads on a daily basis. I also went here for undergrad and I was very involved in a pre-med organization, and I am still involved with the undergrad group now that I am in the med school's equivalent organization. A few people in my class audit undergrad classes.

Well I admit that was a dumb question. There are bars, but not all med schools seem to be located in a place that is thriving with bars. I guess there are tons of other options.

Even a small nightlife area can bring a good undergrad crowd. If not that, place like coffeeshops. Or concerts/pick up sports games.

That said, it's probably a safer dating pool than your fellow med students by a long shot. Though personally, dating 23 year olds when I'm in my early 30's doesn't really sound that interesting. I imagine I would probably look for people in the other grad schools if I decide I am going to do a dual MD/MRS degree.

No. Meds students are too busy studying to really interact with undergrads. In our class, we had a bunch of students go through depression because of the long hours studying and not a whole lot of sleep. some had to go on anti depressants.

Maybe you are a non trad, but the average 1st year medical student is 24-25. For them, 21-23 isn't that big of a stretch and, if you are a guy, pretty standard.

Same with my school. Undergrads here are able to interact with MS1's on a professional level through our student-run clinics. Many of them can relate to what undergrads are going through and also offer to serve as mentors. All in all, the clinics want everyone to work in a friendly and warm environment, so they do encourage all of us to bond with one another.
