I am thinking of taking of coaching from Inquarta.com or Dr.Eaton(Prehealthadvising) on admission process. I am debating the advantages of this program and not sure whether these programs will help me in getting into MD/DO schools. Please advise.

If you are a competitive applicant, I would try applying without them. There are so many free sources of info (like where you are now!) that it seems wrong to pay. If you need help editing your essays, ask your prehealth office for resources. Friends, family can all help. Most schools have writing centers that can help. There is tons of info on here and on the internet that can help you (not always accurate, but you learn to sift through pretty quickly).

If you have to reapply again and you think you need an extra boost, go ahead and try one. It just seems like it isn't worth it if you haven't already tried to apply.

I went to a presentation by a similar company.. I thought it was totally not worth the money. What is it about the application process you are nervous about?

Writing the personal statement/2ndary essays? - ask an SDN reader, doctors you've shadowed, professors you've worked for, med school friends

doing the interview? - your university career center will help you with this for FREE. my alma mater offers services for students upto a year after graduation - yours might be similar. you usually give them your application materials, tell them which schools you are applying to (states vs. canada) and they will do a mock interview with you, give you feedback. plus, you can always practice with family/friends/mentors.

honestly, i think SDN is a much better (AND CHEAPER) resource. But if you have the money, why not? I'd be more inclined to spend it on a nice bottle of wine, though. 😉

Barcu is right. However, if you have the dough, you certainly can buy that 0.1% extra edge. The way I see it, if you still need that kind of hand-holding instead of figuring out where to find information at this stage in your life, the service probably won't do you much good anyway.
