A common question Ive been asked. I had someone ask me about it on this forum, and many people e-mailed me about it on another forum. I dont want to mislead people, so if anyone could provide advice, Id appreciate it.
I worked as a medical assistant for 1.5 years in a medical practice. Although I was hired as a MEDICAL ASSISTANT, the position was moreso like an externship. Now, mind you, I had NO INSURANCE.......and technically I was supposed to carry out the scutwork eg basic histories, vitals, sugars, laboratory, etc. However, my boss (nurse practioner) told all the physicians there to use me like an extern. So I had ample opportunites for hands-on experience, including suturing, paps, h + p, etc.
On my CAF, I cited this as work experience, but explained that I had the opportunity to have hands on experience.
Ive had a few members ask me about this experience, and now I feel guilty......cause I dont want people to think this is USCE when it is not. Yes, I know it is better than nothing......but if someone could elaborate on this, Id appreciate it.
