This thread is dedicated to posting most interesting medical jargon u came across. Deciphering medical jargon sometimes can be enjoyable task. The most interesting acronyms i had ever came across were during my Ob & gyn posting, here are some interesting examples-

I was just going through post operative notes of a case of emergency LSCS when i found this term BCIAB. I was at loss for few minutes b4 i realised it meant
BCIAB- Babay immediately cried after birth

While sitting in OPD with gyni registrar we saw a case of procidontia, what registrar wrote on case paper was something like this-

pt. c/c/o/ scopv

that means "something coming out per vaginum" 😛

pals i am sure u must have come across some interesting medical jargon during ur college hours. so what r u waiting 4! post it now!

 yeah quite true deciphering these acronyms can be real fun sometimes.
A few days back one of my male friends had prolapsed intervertebral disc (PIVD) and he was immediately admitted and operated. Obviously he couldnt appear for terminals which were going on at that time. so one of my friends wrote an application for sickness leave on his behalf. The guy wrote PID instead of PIVD in the application. I accompanied him to HOD's cabin to submitt the application form. When madam read the application form she was for a moment confused and asked whether the applicant in this case was male or female. Moments later when we finally realised the mistake we all broke into a bout of laughter.
