OK, so we all know that most MD/PhD grads go into residency with a few going into post-docs. So what about the remaining handful? I recently found out that a position called a "Medical Liaison" is a third option. Basically you are a pharma sales rep on steroids who focuses on education and marketing of drug X whilst traveling around the USA.

You could use this job to start a long-term foray to climbing the pharma corporate ladder or use the extra 1-3 years before residency to amass $130K/year.

Has anybody considered this option or known somebody who has chosen it?
