Voluntary board certification in medical oncology for practicing physicians involves board examinations that are designed to assess and evaluate knowledge and skill proficiency in clinical practice and patient care. Medical oncology board review products and courses are available to assist clinicians in preparing for the exams. For applicants who are planning to schedule their certification examinations, here are some important dates to remember:

November 13, 2013 – Date of the next oncology written qualifying exam
November 18-22, 2013 – Exam dates for candidates with documented disabilities, who require extended time to complete the examination
March 1, 2013 – Start of registration for the exams
May 1, 2013 – Deadline for exam registration
May 2, 2013 – Start of late registration (this involves additional fees)
June 1, 2013 – Deadline for late exam registration
September 1, 2013 – Deadline for cancellation of schedules, should candidates wish to withdraw from the exam

The George Washington University Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
