Hi guys, question on medical power of attorney. Can medical power of attorney be revoked if the patient is mentally incompetent? The following usmlerx question says YES, but FA 2016 says "can be revoked by patient IF DECISION MAKING CAPACITY IS INTACT"

To me, decision making capacity more or less equals mental competence??? Thanks!

Question:
The daughter of a pt with Alzheimer dementia is the designated surrogate. When does a designated surrogate lose his or her power?

Answer:
If the pt revokes the power of the surrogate, even if the pt is mentally incompetent
