Is there such a thing as a medical residency career coach or therapist to help residents who are thinking of switching fields figure out what specialty is best for them? If yes, can you list names and numbers and if you know whether they would use skype or phone consultation as well? please mentione whether you found them helpful. tia

I think career coaches are kind of scams in general. What year are you? What is making you unhappy in your current field?

There probably isn't one right answer. I think most people would be happy in multiple specialties. My advise would be to trust your gut if you are unhappy try to make sure you consider what life will be like out of residency and not just in residency. I think its sometimes hard to separate why someone is upset with a job. Is it the work environment, malignant program, personal conflicts, mental health issues, the general stress of residency and if you really should change specialties. Write, reflect, talk it out with mentors. and most of all trust your gut.
