Hi guys,

- I am really struggling with this medical school path. I am technically in my second year of college but I attended a high school where I could take college classes so I have credits and was planning on graduating this coming year and applying for 2027-2028 year. However, I got a invitation to join the honors program where I can do my research through (barely able to get that) and I am going to find out if I get in this month.

- Depending on that, either I will graduate in Spring of 2027 or Summer of 2026. I have a possible other research in the sociology department (I AM A BIOLOGY MAJOR AND A PUBLIC HEALTH MINOR ) where I am enrolled in a research internship course and get to work with a professor in a direct study. I don't know how to go about with the application year now because I feel I am going to have a lot to do this year including a clinical job, research, shadowing, volunteering and studying for mcat.

- I have completed my medical assistant course and plan on taking the exam this month as well as I had a research internship this semester with Riipen where I researched child abuse, neglect, deaths and child protection services and wrote wikipedia articles on it.

- I have a pretty good gpa and I am sure I will have at least a 3.8 gpa by the time I graduate.

- I have yet to take the mcat, but I have volunteered with Red Cross, an organization called Create for Kids at a Cardiology unit at hospital and planning on volunteering at another hospital at the oncology unit so I have roughly 45+ hrs so far and will have over 100 for sure when I volunteer at the oncology unit. I also have roughly 21hrs of shadowing with gynecologist, physician assistant, and internal physician.

- I am also a certified immunizer and a pharmacy technician and I have been working at a pharmacy for roughly a year and a half.

- Also I don't know if this counts but during my high school, when I was doing college classes at the community college, I was a senator for my campus for Student Government, was a vice president of Careers in Science and I created a instagram account part of project to share and spread awareness of sexual abuse and rape and such (Should I put this part of my application because I feel I grew a lot and learned a lot through this experience even though its not there anymore)?

- One last thing, I am a daughter and niece of breast cancer patients who didn't survive and they are the reason why I want to go into medicine.

I know I wrote a lot and definitely need more hours and experience for sure but based on what I have shared so far, if anyone is able to guide me or give me advice on my chances and help me with all my questions, I would really appreciate it because I feel like I am not good enough and I just need help making sure I am on the right track!

Thank you!

Impossible to answer with GPAs

And for God's sake, learn how to use the indent function and create paragraphs. It's no fun reading a post that's as long as a Stephen King-length novella
- First I have a gpa of 3.9 at the moment and Science GPA of 3.95. Hoping it goes up before the end of this year.
- Second, sorry I am new to this and I was in the moment, was kind of just putting my thoughts. I will fix it.

A 3.9 GPA is super!
Thank you! Struggled to get here. Messed up my first semester in college and ended up at 3.2 but thank god, I was able to persevere.

Have you talked with your prehealth advisors? Exactly what are you struggling with? You seem capable of keeping yourself busy.
I have tried contacting and asking for help to my pre health advisors but they are not much of a help. I have been trying to figure things out myself but I just have some questions and could use some advice or guidance.

Have you filled out an AMCAS application? Don't submit it, but try filling it out. This may help clarify some of the gaps you have about describing your experiences and how your profile sets up before your MCAT or junior year GPA matter.

Again, exactly what are you struggling with?

I think filling out an AMCAS application should be helpful but I just am struggling on figuring out if I am on the right path or what my chances would be to get into schools like Chapel Hill or Duke or Brody School of Medicine.
