There is no PCP shortage. Only a maldistribution.

So what's up with this primary care shortage I'm always hearing about, if there are plenty of internationals filling up the available primary care spots?

Do they leave after getting their residency training or something ?

So did we hit the sweet spot where getting in isn't crazy competitive and matching won't be crazy hard?

Matching is going to be a breeze, as long as you want community (Peds, IM, Pysch, FP, OBGYN) and any random specialty that is currently out of favor . It will be more difficult to match into the harder stuff, rad onc, optho, ortho, nsg, derm considering the applicant pool has increased yet the position sizes have remained the same.

Come on I'm on pre-allo, gotta stay gunning... I was talking academic institutions... So are we trending towards having IM step averages be like 250 for decent programs?
