Stupid question: but how do medical schools with the pass/fail system determine who their valedictoria is? Is it based on more than grades?
thanks for the info

lol i didn't know valedictorians existed after high school.

Some P/F still keep track of grades for this determination and are used in AOA determination.

Other P/F are true P/F and keep no rankings thus no student is top.

In most med schools there is a behind the scenes class rank even with P/F. In a lot of places you have P/F but also high pass, honors, etc. so there are more subdivisions. Only a couple of schools are truly P/F with no class rank. But no, there is no term "valedictorian" in med school, there is only the #1 ranked person. And it will be that person with the enormous pulsating cranium and coke-bottle glasses who sits in the front row with his/her hand constantly in the air that no one ever talks to anyhow. Hope that helps.
