Hi,

I was wandering if anyone could tell me how studying medicine functions in Spain? I have information that it's 4 years of undergraduate education and then 6 years of graduate medical education, if I'm correct. Could someone please confirm whether this is true?
Also, if there are 6 years of graduate medical education, are perhaps 2 out of these 6 years some kind of residency or no?

I would also like to know how well is the medical diploma from Spain recognized overseas? Is there any possibility to at least do a residency, for example, in the USA?

The location which interests me is Barcelona. Is the system of studying there different than in other cities in Spain (e.g. are courses taught in Catalan instead of Spanish?)

Finally, being a doctor in Spain... Does someone perhaps know how good it is in terms of salaries, overall lifestyle etc.?

Thank you.
