The MSc in medical sciences at Mac is like a typical MSc program. Mac has some great faculty, so if you can hook up with a group and mentor that you really get along with, it will be fantastic.
If you are interested in gene therapy, the Centre for Gene Therapeutics (http://www.fhs.mcmaster.ca/cgt/) is well-known and very productive. The new facilities in the Degroote buildling are nice too.
I don't know much about prospects following an MSc, but that would be universal info.
