Medicine Abroad/Graduate gap year

Hi! I am graduating in May 2016 and plan to apply to medical school this winter/spring. That will give me a full gap year. I want to do something meaningful with this time. I would really like to travel and volunteer/work abroad. I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions about programs or places. Has anyone had experience with this?

I found engaging in medical outreach within the Baltic region to be exceptionally rewarding. You'll have to navigate the road less traveled if you following in my footsteps because there are no programs but I would recommend getting in contact with the public hospital in Albania or Kosovo and grab yourself a backpack.
