Hello fellow applicants! I am starting a new thread for this awesome program, did anyone get invites for this program yet? Advising on how to get into this program is greatly appreciated! Good luck to everyone!

Hello, I got invited! Good luck everyone
Do you mind sharing your stats and when you got invited? I only ask because I got a 503 MCAT score (127, 125, 123, 128) and Nikki told me my MCAT score was outside of MEDPATH consideration (494-500).

I think you can email Nikki why you should be considered for the program since 503 is close to the MCAT range. She might make an exception. That's what I heard from some other applicants from previous years.

I already did this and she said she will not make an exception. It was not meant to be, good luck to everyone that got invited!

For those of you invited for Medpath did you receive an email or checked vitals? Also when were you complete? Thanks

Email was received on Nov 2nd. It's due Jan 31st. I completed mine two weeks ago.

Is there a separate application for Medpath? If so do one of you mind sharing the questions with me so I will be able to work on it during break while I wait to hear back. Thank you so much

Yes. There is a separate application for MedPath. They will send you an invitation after they review your secondary application and reject you from OSU regular MD admission but consider you a good candidate for MEDPATH (I think 495-500 MCAT and >3.0 GPA maybe lower GPA, dunno). DM'ed you the questions. I think it's 9 short statements and 2 long personal statements.

Any current Medpath students on here?

does anyone know when orientation is in august is it in the beginning or August or end?

Yes, but you had to press "Submit with confirmation". I just submitted last night at like 12:56am lol

Ahhh... I submitted without that confirmation option lol thank you! The wait begins

You should also get an email in like a week from their department saying they recieved everything and that it is under consideration.

Do any of you know what the success rate is of the MEDPATH program? Do all the students successfully matriculate/how hard is it?

From what I've read about past classes, generally 13-14 matriculate from the program into the M1 year. I haven't seen a provided stat from the program, but didn't dig too heavily.

Regarding the difficulty, again, from what I've read, the courses we would take include Biochemistry, genetics, immunology, histology, physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and some potential courses specific to where we may need improvement. Obviously, these courses range in "difficulty" and to some degree this will be subjective. It seems like there are weekly quizzes and about 2-3 exams for each of these courses, plus MCAT course and MCAT prep for the second semester and three courses in the summer session prior to matriculation into M1. It seems reasonable from the perspective provided from previous students. There is a good blog that has been put out there by a prior student that can be found by googling Medpath blog.

It seems like it is fairly demanding but reasonable program.

Has anyone heard anything in regards to interviews?

I'm late to the forum, but I was invited and am also waiting a response! (I applied pretty last minute, so I hope that's not terrible)

Does anyone know if after successfully completing the MEDPATH program you can still apply to other MD programs? Or are you locked into medical school at OSU (Which is still an excellent school with an impressive program)?

I’m sure you can still apply to other schools, I don’t think there’s any signed agreement. Maybe frowned upon because it takes that spot from others.

Sorry for all of the questions, but has anyone looked into the tuition of the MEDPATH program and if there are any financial aid options?

I think just the tuition (excluding living expenses and books and stuff) is around the same as the first year of medical school. So if you are out of state, it is like 50k. If you are in state, its like 30k. I heard from previous years that students with certain financial hardship on a case-by-case basis can apply for tuition waivers and then you just take out loans for living expenses.

So - one thing to consider, it kind of defeats the purpose to do this. You would basically need to retake the MCAT between now and July and reapply this summer, and by the time you would start you would ultimately be starting the M1 year at OSU. It seems that going that route wouldn't make much sense unless you just didn't want to go to OSU for medical school. By the time you finished this program and if you were to apply the following summer, it would be assumed that you would basically be foregoing starting medical school by a year and giving up an acceptance at OSU.

Make sense?

I agree with this! I would only suggest applying elsewhere if you’re certain you’re not going to meet all the conditions for full acceptance towards the end of the program.

Does anyone know how much time do we have to respond to the acceptance post-interview if accepted? Since some medical school does not release their waitlist acceptances until early May.

I haven’t read anything on any of the prior posts. I’m sure you have a short (maybe 2-3 weeks max?) to accept. But obviously as they told us on the application, if accepted to another school, you have to turn down this program.

For both MD/DO?

Yes. When you submitted your application; there was section you had to acknowledge and agree to that said if you are accepted to any medical program, you agree to withdraw from this program.
