Megaloblastic anemia, from inhibiting DNA but not RNA?

So a uworld question i believe said in Megaloblastic anemia, DNA synthesis is impaired, but not RNA. Why is this the case? Isn't THF also required in purine synthesis as the carbon source... thus shouldn't it also inhibit RNA?

The mRNA can be recycled in the old cell whereas a new DNA strand has to be synthesized when a cell replicates.
