Right now I am in Organic chem, we have taken two tests and I got a C on both tests! I am not really someone to get C's in classes and have a hard time. Our professor drops a test so I am not too worried about being able to come back with a good grade in the class overall but did anyone else have a rough start with o-chem as in thinking it was going to be easier than it is? What kind of study advice do you have?

From my experience... some people "get" O-chem, while others have a harder time studying for it. I was in the middle... I only got B's on my tests... It was hard... I studied for hours with my friend (who is currently in medical school)... We walk into the test confident that we will get 100's on it, but walk out of it hoping to get a 60%.... He got C's while I got B's on my tests...

I honestly dont know what more to say... O-chem always annoyed me.

thats how it is for me too, its literally driving me nuts! I never have a hard time with tests after I have studied and I really do understand the homework, but it seems like there is just always some stupid little thing to forget. I'm kinda guessing im gonna get a B in this class, I don't think itll kill me but I just had to vent somewhere I guess.

I feel like the only way to do well in ochem is to keep going over the practice problems they give you and then when you know those questions really well...try to come up with your own questions. make flashcards for rxns (two kinds: reactants--> products with a ? for what the reagents are

and reactants + reagents --> with a ? for what the products are) if you know the rxn both ways, its way better. so yah you'll have twice as many flashcards but it really helps. just keep practicing mechanisms, nomenclature, etc. good luck!
