sincel meharry does not have a ranking system for waitlist, I believe they just put people on waitlist according to first come first serve. does anyone going to meharry already know how far along the waitlist (interview monthwise) do students get accpeted. I mean upto which month's waitlistees do they usually end up accepting.
thanx

I have to tell you that Meharry's list(aceptance range) is not a first come first serve type of thing. I know of people that were put on that list late in April and still got in(It is very likely there were people put on that list earlier and they didn't get accepted). I have no clue how they decide after you have been put in the acceptance range list who they offer acceptances to but I can asure you it is not a first come first serve process. They do pull many people out of that list; in fact, I was one of them two years ago and so was 85%or so of my class(excluding post bacc students). I have yet to meet any of my classmates that got accepted right of the bat. I guess we don't talk about that very much anyways. As far as how late can someone be accepted I can tell you that one of my friends got accepted 5 days after school had already started;in fact, he got a phone call instead of a letter. So if you are in that list is already a good thing. Hopefully you'll be fortunate enough to get out of that list and get an acceptance.

I got a letter about 4-5 weeks after my interview.

Does anyone have any information on this wait list at Meharry. I was wait listed there last year and wait listed again this year... Since I have published and presented I should probably update them.... achhh....

hi there,

I am a first year medical student @ Meharry 😍 😍. I personally was accepted last June, which was well beyond what was considered the norm. I intereveiewd last February 24th. Interestingly, some of my classmates (roughly 3-4) were accepted within 1-2 weeks even after our program began (on June 20th). Don't ever give up hope 🙂

If you truly want to attend Meharry, I STRONGLY urge you to contact Mr. Mosley. I wish you all the best 🙂

If you need any advice/help, please don't hesitate to send me a PM 🙂

I am currently in Australia in the med school here. I am doing well, I supposed however am not completely satisfied with the course. Also, I believe it is much easier to get back into residency in the states if i go to a school in the states. I received an interview in late february (sent home), however, did not receive the letter until a couple days before my interview. I had to reschedule....The last date to interview was April 10th and the receptionist said she could try and fill me in. I know it is really late, however, Im wondering if i spend 2000 coming home, if itll be worth it and if I have any chance at ALL. Because I realize that a lot of schools just hand out interviews and I would have to miss out on a week of school and explain why im attending school here in australia. Also, how was your interview experience? Id like to know as much as I possibly can going into this interview....Thanks. Any help and suggestions anyone can give me would be helpful. Thanks.

Anyone one the waiting list get off yet? I heard they extended their interview time until April 10th....

I have a different question about Meharry.

On Google I noticed that Meharry is
"independent, historically-black: in fact, perhaps the major educator of black physicians in the US."

does that mean that white students are at a disadvantage applying there? Are there few white students in the class?

The 2nd yr class that I saw was pretty diverse.

Hey All,

Has anyone heard back from admissions regarding interviews on February 20th?

Thanks
-N

I interviewed on 2/2 and I still haven't heard anything...A friend of mine interviewed on 2/17 and she hasn't heard anything yet neither.

Good luck to you though... :luck:

WTF! When did they originally plan to stop? How did you hear also?

Hey Meharry ppl,

I didn't apply there and I'm not on the waitlist, but I thought you would like this:

Yesterday I saw an episode of the Cosbu show in which a guy dating Sondra was in school at Meharry.

Dr. Huxtable thought it was "a great institution."

Just thought you would all like to know that Dr. Huxtable promotes your choice. Good luck!

Yep, I love Cliff. He always supported all of the HBCU's.

i interviewed at meharry on jan 23rd and still haven't heard anything back from the yet and whenever i try and email i get no reply and whenever i call they say to just email...anyone have any ideas?

Yep, they told me to send an email too when I called.

Who do you send the email to? Mr.Mosley?

I have sent e mails as well. I am starting to doubt if they are even read.

Has anyone been able to talk to Mr.Mosley directly?

I have three times and I am going to call him this week again. I just call the admissions office and ask for him.

What does he tell you? Does he give you any information about your status?

Hes been pretty cool. He told me they really liked me (even though I was placed in the acceptance range). Sometimes, I wonder if he says that to everyone. Then he gave me a bunch of things to do and send to him.

When I called Meharry admissions office and asked for Mr. Mosley, the woman asked what was the call about. As soon as I told her that I wanted to know if there was any movement in the waitlist, she answered herself and did not forward my call. How did you guys get to talk to Mr. Mosley? 😕 I would really like to speak with him and ask what I can do to gain admission. Thanks for reply.

Has there been any movement? Why did you leave that part out!?!?! LOL

Hey All,

Just email Ms. Davis and you should learn your status. We weren't able to meet Mr. Mosley, he was out of town. We did however, meet with a superstar doctor dentist. MD DDS, that's what I'm talking about!

Do you think I would have left out any part that was good news!?!?! OF COURSE there has been NO movement!!!!

:luck: The waitlist will move between now and mid June

Many people will be making decisions and dropping acceptances once they recieve word from all the schools they've applied to. 😉

I hope you are right!

I applied to Meharry via amcas, but never turned in my secondary, why get rejected again

But in all honesty, someone asked this question earlier. Would a non-african american be at a disadvantage applying? that was one of the reasons why i never followed through...

my bad, the main question was the second part of my post and I meant to post this as well...

http://admissions.mmc.edu/page.asp?SID=22&Page=1456

5. Is your “Waiting List” ranked?

Meharry does not have a ranked waiting list. If a position in the class becomes available, all files will be reviewed. As you receive updated records and scores, it is important to forward them to the Admissions Office so that all current information is considered in your application.

So the waitlist is basically ranked when a spot opens up because some candidates are more competitive than others. Is this the case?

No it is not ranked. It says it above and I was told that during my interview.

It looks like waitlisted applicants are essentially treated as a new applicant but now in a more competitive pool. So if you are waitlisted there, you better make sure everything is up to date and that you show some interest🙂

Good luck to everyone, do not be discouraged :luck:

As ANYONE been able to speak with Mrs. Davis on the phone?!? I called her twice and emailed her twice and did not received any correspondence in return. I am almost afraid to call again to look like an annoying applicant.

I tried calling Mr. Mosley's cell phone, let him a vmail and an email and i still havnet gotten any word from him. I dont understand why he would give out his cell phone number when we interviewed and then not get back to us when we needed him to, oh well, im sure im just frustrated by all the wait lists i am on.

and i hate how they wont forward a call if they deem its not necessary. even when i said "its a private matter" she said that she could not forward the call... ???

I know this sounds strange, but my friend claims that the pronunciation of this school is "McCarry", not "Meharry" as phonetics would indicate. Am I missing something here?

I talked to her last week via phone and via email. She does take like 2 days to get back to you via email though. I've been calling the office between 4 and 5pm CST each time... and I've been able to reach her whenever I called.

Good luck everyone!

I've never heard this before... nor did I hear anyone pronounce it that way while I was on campus there.... but who knows?

Hi, I interviewed at Meharry in march, haven't heard anything? Anyone from March interview have an updates?

Tried calling, emailing, etc....

I interviewed March 6th and haven't heard anything yet. The students during the lunch said they heard in 3 weeks. It's been about 6 weeks for me and nothing.

It really is driving me nuts that I don't know especially since they start in June! I can't wait until May 15th to find out. I live in Canada and have a lot of prep work that must be done to move to Nashville, incl. getting the student visa and financing sorted out.

After hearing what all you other guys have had with calling and getting no answer I don't think it's worth my time to call. I can save the long distance phone charges too...

YO - i interviewed April 3rd and I received an e-mail about a week later telling me I was on the waitlist. Kind of interesting that they got back to me so fast - looks like a bad sign to me...what do you think?

Since there's so much riding on this acceptance or lack thereof... isn't that more reason for you to call and see what your status is??
