Hi all,
For step 1, how in-depth do we need to know the biochemical pathways? Sure, we need to know all the steps and enzymes in glycolysis. But what about, say, beta oxidation of fatty acids? Do we need to know all those steps and enzymes?

Thanks?

I found that 85% of the biochem questions on my test were the clinical manifestations of biomchemical deficiencies. This info is covered in FA. I only rarely needed in depth info about enzymes and processes. Whatever you do dont get any more in depth than HY biochem. Even that is too much detail.

bah

don't waist your time. better off learning the key enzymes in each cycle, and defincies of such a block and the build up of products prior to teh block, etc.

I had a question showing me all the steps in Heme formation or something idiotic like that and they just wanted me to pick out the "regulated" (i.e., first) step.

Focus on the highly regulated parts for Glycolysis and you'll do very well. In my opinion, pure/classic Biochem is being phased out and is being replaced with more Molecular Bio questions.
