With websites like CareerBuilder, Monster, indeed.com, etc. that assist with minimizing the gap between employee and employers, are there any job boards that are geared towards mental health-related jobs?

At the BA level? Probably most of the generic ones will be listed when you search for "Psychiatric Aide," "Peer Mentor," or "Mental Health Technician." Did you finally get into a program? If so you could ask around there, but the school may have different ideas about the amount you should/can work. What used to be MHMR can provide some good work options, as can Timberlawn or some hospitals, depending on where you want to work and live in the area. One word of warning though, the DFW area is hiring a bit at the BA level, but most want BCBA kids.

I got into UT-Dallas's M.S. in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience and I accepted it. I did some searching around, emailed some professors and prospective Ph.D. programs in counseling and clinical psychology to see if this program would prepare/ make me competitive for admissions, and the general answer is "very much so."

I have seen Timberlawn postings, and I don't qualify for them. I have the degree but no CPR or 1-2 years of experience. It's a catch 22. It's frustrating as hell to get experience when I need the experience to get the experience. I thought working my butt off in my undergrad to graduate with a 3.75 was going to pay off. Clearly I should have gone with economics, business administration or engineering. 😛

I am really excited about this program. This fall I will take cellular neuroscience, systems neuroscience and cognitive science. I will focus on the cog-neuro aspect a lot. They offer "tracks" that allow students to do IONM, AI engineering, HCI and cog-neuro. For the sake of my future goal(s), I will focus on taking the courses that really accentuate the cog-neuro aspect; cognitive development, perception, memory, cognitive psychology, psychopharmacology, research methods and the other courses I listed above.
