Is it considered a negative on your application if you volunteered and shadowed an MD? I figure if you have that along with volunteering and shadowing a dentist, it would give the admissions board an idea that you really know you want to be a dentist. Then again, they could see that as a negative thing. I was just wondering what you guys thought about that. Should I include it or no?

i highly doubt it is considered a negative if u shadowed an MD. obviously u could go both ways on this but honestly, i think the adcom will think u hav explored the health sci field in terms of shadowin, volunteerin etc and are now makin an informed decision on wat u want to do ie dentistry.

Yeah, I think I'll add that in 🙂

I'd mention it on an interview or something, but I don't see how putting it under activities would look good. Since you can't explain it as well by just listing it as you could in person, it could look bad and confuse the adcom. My .02

i think it's silly not to mention it. u didn't always know u wanted to be dentist! there's nothing wrong with checking out other professions. how else would you know that you want to be a dentist and not a plumber?!
