Congrats guys! I got a call as well earlier today. Are you both going to be attending Mercer?

OptimusBear Absolutely! I plan on sending in my deposit in the next few days. What about you?

My top choice before interviewing was GSU, but I've been waitlisted there. Having seen Mercer's program has made me reconsider where I'll end up going so I still don't know yet!

You guys are making me nervous. I haven't heard anything yet. I'm trying to convince myself no news is good news. Mercer is my top choice.

I was accepted, as well! Does anyone know how Mercer's program compares to Emory's? Anything you've heard about either or any advantages of one over the other would be helpful! Thanks!

This feels odd that I'm giving you my input considering I haven't even been invited to an interview. Anyhow, I've worked with several therapists from both mercer and Emory. Both are excellent programs. Emorys tuition is significantly higher but both programs are quite expensive. From what I've observed, recent grads of both schools are excellent in manual therapy and orthopedics. Emory has strong neuro and the students are very exposed to research and other health disciplines. However I always wanted to go to mercer ever since the mass exodus of the all star faculty from gsu several years ago. This includes Joe Donnelly the PTAG president (although I hear he's less involved with the entry level program now) and some other big names in the local PT community. Mercer and Emory I'd say are maybe the two best programs in GA right now and if I had to choose, I would go with mercer based on tuition and the outstanding faculty. However if having a large alumni community and going to a prestigious university with a name recognized by most people in the south, I'd go with Emory. Source: Rehab aide in a hospital 15 min away from both Emory and Mercer and PT tech at another output clinic for last year and a half. Hope that helped.

Does anyone know if they notify you about being waitlisted or is it all a wait and see?

In reference to deciding between Mercer and Emory, I received a lot of valuable input from a PT I observed. He actually went to Emory for his DPT, but in the recent years, he has received students from Mercer's program for their clinical internships and he has said that "whatever Mercer is doing is working." I was recently accepted into Mercer's program for the Class of 2019 and when telling that same PT that I was deciding between those two schools, he told me go to Mercer, even with being an Emory graduate. Hope that helps!

Has anyone heard from Mercer recently and received an interview?

My friend received an interview on Monday for the 16th I believe.

your friend received an invitation this past Monday to interview on the 16th. Is that correct?

Yea, he got an email on Jan 4th for an interview on the 16th.

I received an email saying I was denied yesterday.

With the interview being 6 days away, I'm wondering why they haven't contacted everyone. I figured they were waiting to see who accepted their invitation to attend and put down their deposit. I'm starting to become anxious! Of course when you call, it goes to voicemail. Has anyone else heard anything? Best of luck.

I called admissions this morning and she tried to tell me that everyone has been contacted regarding a decision. When I told her I haven't received an interview or rejection email, she made a few calls. She called me back and said that they are still deciding for the last wave of interviews and to hold tight. Does this mean they are going to contact applicants the day before interviews or maybe they added a new interview date?! So frustrating...

I have my interview on Saturday - I'm pretty nervous about the interview and am in the preparation process. What kind of questions were you asked in the one-on-one, other than "tell me about yourself" and "where do you see yourself in 4 years?" Any questions stand out to you? What kind of scenarios did they use in the group interview?

I called this morning as well and told her the same thing. She told me I'd be contacted "within a week." I asked her if she meant "by the end of the week," but she meant within the next 7 days. I told her I knew the interview was in 3 days and asked if they'd be conducting a third interview session, she said they were still deciding on the possibility of a 3rd round.

. wrong thread lol

Will a 3rd round be in the works?
Edit: rejection email received 🙁

Someone asked that question at my interview, and the students said it was mixed depending on the day.... For days going out to the community, I'm pretty sure that you wear the Mercer "track suit" to stay uniform, but other times they said that shorts and t-shirts were a must when learning how the body moves/anatomical locations. I could be mistaken, but that's what I remember!

Do most schools have a dress code? I hope not formal. That will factor in for me. I could do a track suit but nothing dressy.

So, I guess that those who have been accepted have already gotten phone calls, or so I have heard.

Some schools apparently wear a school track suit while out on clinical; that's why I said I prefer a track suit. Not sure what I will wear but where I am shadowing the PT's wear scrubs (hospital.)

All the students doing clinical I've seen were dressed business casual, as was I when shadowing. Keep in mind these are professional schools and most want you to dress professionally, I'd hope attire isn't a huge factor in your decision on schools.

I've been to two of mercers info sessions and work with a mercer grad at a clinic. I think mercer expects students to wear business casual clothes to class everyday and change to comfortable clothes during lab. I know for other ga schools like gru ung and gsu this is not the case bc they can go to class with a t shirt and shorts except during guest lectures, they would have to dress up.

I'm not sure if everyone's gotten a decision from Mercer, but I wanted to let you guys know that I got an update email yesterday saying that the interview process has come to a close and that they are waiting on a couple of other applicants to complete the 2019 class.

So they already accepted the people that they are going to accept I guess?

@malibu3 unless you have gotten a denial I'd hold out hope. If they don't fill those spots (they are probably waiting on some people to decide) they will go down the list. If you had an interview could you still have a full out denial? Sorry I'm new I don't know how it works. Hopefully in a few years I'll be the one with the answers.

I think it's rare to have an interview and be denied instead of waitlisted. However, it can definitely happen, especially if you royally mess up during your interview.

@malibu3 I would think that some of the applicants that have been offered spots are waiting for the Emory decision (or another school's). I'd say that there is still a chance of movement through the waitlist.

I just hope that I am even on the waiting list....

Got acceptance today. I wish everyone the best of luck, no matter where you end up we all deserve it because we've put the work in. Keep the faith steadfast!!:clap::clap:

When I interviewed I thought they said they would let us know by February 2nd. Does anyone know if this was the correct date?

Yeah, that was the date they said they would try to contact everyone by. But I'm guessing they're taking a little longer if you haven't heard back from them yet.

I got waitlisted. I wonder if I can call and see where I am on the waitlist.
