Given the state of this economy, this question may answer itself. But, from anyone's personal experience or understanding, are scholarships for dental school beyond reasonable expectation? I most likely will not receive any FAFSA financial aid and will apply for HPSL and Perkins loans.

From my experience at my interviews and them talking about this, all of the schools said that they had very little money to give out - though I hear there are still a number of private scholarships, you just have to look for them.

I'm in the same boat you are, as I'm sure many starting dental students - and I think just about everyone is probably going to have to take loans for most if not all of the full amounts.

If money is an issue for you in that you don't want to be in debt, consider the military route - every dentists I've talked to who's done it has loved it, and getting rid of 300k dept for 4 years of service while still getting paid doesn't sound like a bad plan if you don't have other commitments holding you down.

Why won't you get FAFSA subsidized and unsubsidized loans? Are you younger than 18? Do you yourself make over $100,000 a year right now? If you're a student fresh out of college making no money you will get FAFSA loans, parents income does not come into play. If you're an older student with a long-standing income then you may need to take out private loans.
