I just did supplemental for a school that has around 1k character limits for each question and I wrote like 3-4 sentences for each question. Is supp app a big deal?
doc toothache frequently likens much of this process unto a dating situation. It really is. New private school = expensive = backup school for a lot of applicants. They know this. So if a 'why us?' questions is answered generically, you might not get to fist base on this date if they even let you bat. But what's done is done; you're early at least...a gal likes to be picked up on time, right?

Hahaha. Yeah the forces behind the process appear to behave in a really immature way. I was told by a dean of admissions that some of those new&expensive schools might give me a second look if they see I'm a reapplicant. That way I'm not just using them as a backup.
Personally, I think if they take your application fee they should give you full consideration no matter how much/little they think you want them.
