Metabolic pathways - how much details?

Hi, so I was using TBR for the biochem section, but the metabolic pathways in TBR seem WAY too detailed, I mean they list out EVERY mechanistic detail of how each and every reactions occur.

Do we really need to know the mechanisms? Or would we be fine just knowing all the reactants, intermediates, coenzymes, enzymes, ATPs produced, etc?
 
I think it's important to understand the reactants, the major enzymes, where nadh/ fadh2/ atp are produced. Regulatory steps are important as well as what stimulates and inhibits certain pathways. Hope this helps
