Hello everyone! I have gone to MGH IHP for their OTD program and just wanted to give my review! I have done pretty well during the program. I will say, as someone who has an interest in ortho, this program really lacks a lot in that department. Their anatomy and movement classes went well, but outside of splinting, you do not learn anything else about physical rehab, such as hands or pelvic floor. They try really hard to steer away from the medical model, but it ends up being a lot of classes that don’t talk about interventions, and it becomes redundant when they have classes only dedicated to teaching you how to talk and think. These skills are important, but I'm not sure if they should be replacing actual skill acquisition. Their logic is that you will learn everything in fieldwork, but if you don’t have a good CI or if your setting is fast-paced, they can only teach you so much in one-on-one time. Also, it seems like their ADE is more so about doing projects the faculty wants to do versus doing research in what you want to do. If you are okay with that, then you will like this program, but if not you will be stuck doing research on topics you have no interest in. You also go through a match system and have very little control over which faculty and project you get assigned.
