Michael Jackson

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I love how the government-sponsored media has been covering the "Michael Jackson Dies" story for over 2 days now. It sort of makes it seem as if they're trying to hide the failures of the current government...

The man died-->So what?! Everyone is going to die someday. Maybe some of us respect him, but that doesn't give you the right to overlook the much more important events that are happening. "National Trillion Dollar Debt" story>>>>>>>>>>>>"Michael Jackson Dies" story.

Personally, I think his negative qualities vastly outweighed his positive qualities. Anyway, God have mercy on his soul.

👍 For once I'm in complete agreement with Chemdude...

Did anyone notice that a massive energy bill was passed on Friday, including a 300 page amendment tacked on hours before the vote?

What I don't understand is why congress had felt that it had the need to take a moment of silence before they went on to further mess this country up, yet they never took a moment of silence for the people who have died for this country.
Because Michael Jackson>>>the average soldier.

How could anyone notice? If you go to cnn.com there are a bajillion stories about MJ and not one link on the front page about the energy bill. How is nobody at CNN writing a story about the energy bill?
I went to CNN's website just now and there is a story linked on the front page about the energy bill. Just click the link to find out whatever it is you want to know about the bill.

Hey CNN: maybe that's a personal problem that Barack can deal with himself without you calling attention to it???

Energy bill=affects every person in America.
MJ dying=affects a dozen people, maybe.

Thanks liberal news media. Fail.
FWIW, news agencies around the world are still reporting on his life & death too.

While I don't care for Michael Jackson and was annoyed that my Nightly News didn't update me on the rest of the world in the past 72 hours, it is a major event nonetheless and I can at least look past myself and appreciate that fact.

The hardest thing for people to reconcile in life is that there is good and bad in every person (not trying to invoke Paul and Stevie here). Like it or not, Michael was arguably one of the most significant cultural players of our time and the object of endless curiosity (even you folks who hate him bothered to comment here). He was at once the cute little boy from the Jackson 5, the humanitarian, and the enigmatic recluse; and he embodied (embodies) the concept of celebrity fascination.

There is constant coverage about him because people watch it -many to mourn the little part of their childhood that died with him.

Now I see it, it's the 11th headline on the front page. It's after the headlines about how Obama "interfered" in the Iranian presidential election and how the waterspout in Florida is "bigger than it looks".

Admittedly, it's several items above "World's tallest dog loses leg to cancer".

RIP MJ, no one can ever match your dancing or singing

It's amazing to me how many people are so ignorant and disrespectful
He was arguably the greatest entertainer of all time and he set a cultural movement with his music bringing together people all across the world, there will never be another musician like him and you guys are complaining that people are honoring his one of a kind legacy? Give me a break

Whatever, Mr. MJ avatar. Best entertainer of all time? Maybe of your life time, arguably, but "all time" is a tremendous overstatement. Nobody is saying that he shouldn't be honored...many of us are simply pointing out how backward it is that our fellow humans have chosen to honor a glove-wearing, baby-dangling showman with more vigor than so many others whose lives deserve, by any objective measure, exponentially more celebration. You, apparently as a person of science, say that WE are the ones who are ignorant...and that truly illuminates how backward this situation is.

edit: I will concede that I live in LA, and as such saw the enormity of this goat rodeo outside my house in person. It may be easier for me to see what a gigantic charade this is than others who are literally much more distant.

MJ was not only one of the greatest entertainer to have graced this world and shatter racial barriers in ways unseen and unheard of, but he was also a great philanthropist

His command of international news today is a testament to his worldwide influence

R.I.P. King

The purpose of the news media is not to honor one of a kind legacies. Their raison d'etre is to inform the public of important newsworthy events, i.e. "news".

Obviously, CNN and the likes report what garners them the most viewership. If you want to read about politics go to the political section on CNN's website or read the New York Times.

The term "liberal news media" kills me. If you think the "conservative news media" doesn't have an obvious bias in it's reporting then you might just be a ruh-****.

Crap is crap, whether it's liberal or conservative. Fox was just as bad over the past few days. And yeah, CNN's website news has really gone downhill in the past year or two.

In the third frame why does he have 2 pairs of sunglasses?

lol, because it's David Caruso. He always has to put on a pair of sunglasses on making a punchline. So if he's wearing one pair, he's gotta put on another🙂

Yeah that's all he his 😕. We can just ignore what he has done in music for the past thirty years. Was he weird? Yes but he also had a very different life then most completely missing his childhood. And please tell me who was a better entertainer than MJ on a GLOBAL scale?

It's great to so how many people say he is "clogging" up the news, before his death it didn't matter what was on the news but now since he is all over the news we have to say that other stories are being left out. The King of Pop only dies once.

...and apparently a huge portion of the world media (not US, world), believes that this is a newsworthy event, and a lot of ppl around the world also think it is. Just cause you want to hear about other stuff (as do I), doesn't mean your opinion on what is newsworthy is the only right one out there.

It's very newsworthy, but it shouldn't push all the actual important stories "below the fold".

He has defined much of the music that many of the people here complaining readily enjoy. Grace has never been abundant on this forum.

I think we can all be fairly confident that we saw the best of MJ- whcih alot of ppl should find happiness in.

Unlike, many others like Hendrix, JJ, and Jim Morrison.

Are you God? If not, who are you to say whose life deserves more celebration? Your claims are ridiculous and hypocritical.

So the Dr's lawyer describes the Dr giving MJ CPR with one hand under his back and the other over his chest (can't be very effective) - and then lawyer says the Dr often sat next to MJ while he (MJ) was sleeping at his (MJ) request.

I wonder what the Dr's PS was when he applied to medschool? I want to be a baby monitor?

btw - I've got nothing against MJ, I think he was a huge entertainer, if not a bit loopy. But this guy he trusted to be his physician is in for some rough times if that's the best his lawyer can come up with.

wow seriously? I mean, sure you can't do CPR on a soft surface, but you can throw the person on the floor to do it...unless his home has super plush carpeting...

I find it hard to believe a competent physician wouldn't have naltrexone on stand by for a patient on chronic opiates. Where did this supposed cardiologist train anyway?

Meharry Medical

True………..its pathetic that this story is being covered 24/7 on a “respectable” channel like CNN. This MJ coverage is contributing to the dumbing down of America and a diversion from the real problems that America faces.

For the same reason he was trying to do CPR while his pt was still in bed 🙄

So I just found out that his "cardiologist" is NOT board certified. Can someone tell me how you become a doctor without being certified?

And how the hell does some one have a practice in Texas and in Cali? fly every week?

I think you don't really need to be board certified to practice. One of the docs in Dr. 90210 is not certified I believe.

He was getting paid $150k/month to be MJ's doc.......damn.

Hey everyone, I just found out Michael Jackson is still dead.
