what does MMI stand for? I am planning on interviewing at michigan tomorrow and I am a little nervouse about the MMI stuff people are talking about becouse I don't know what it means 😳

I think the MMI's are like different "stations" where they give you an "ethical delimma" and you just talk for a couple minutes about what you would do. This is in addition to the regular "get to know you" interview and from what I heard they are also still doing the essay. Good luck at the interview and when you do your tour of the preclinic feel totally free to ask any of the students in there questions about anything (it will be myself and my class in there at the time, we and the instructors are all pretty cool and wouldn't mind at all if you walk around asking questions and looking at stuff).

Probably too late right now for you my man, but here's to those who have interviews later on in the month. MMIs stand for Mini Modular/Monitored Interviews. You shuffle from station to station through about 6 "stations" and are given roughly 6-8 minutes at each station. Each station has a senario or a situation that you have to read and understand. You then discuss the senario with your "interviewer". Pretty UNIQUE, pretty stress free, pretty interesting! Good Luck!

can you give one example of the scenarios?
do instate students have to do these, or just out of staters?

Everybody does MMIs.

The MMI's are just scenarios to assess your character. Here are a few of the real questions I was asked at the U of M interview..hmmm

#1 Your assistant comes dressed to work in all tight black leather. And MAN, she looks good. What do you do?

#2 Friday night you are out to dinner with some friends and see your perio professor at a table across the restaurant with your mom. Your perio grade is a little low and think "hmm this might help", but the whole situation feels a little wierd. What do you do?

#3 Your "girls at the front desk" start pimpslapping patients who give them lip or make late payments. You know the patients deserve it, besides how are you supposed to pay for your new mazarati if they don't make their payments! What do you say to your aggressive office staff? What do you say to your patients?

Now really, why in the world would anybody who has already interviewed give you an unfair advantage of going into the MMI's knowing the questions that are supposed to illicit an extemporaneous response? What makes you so special? Relax and answer the questions like everybody else has so far - without time to prepare. :luck: Good luck.
