Following prophylactic administration of amoxicillin, a patient becomes hypotensive and itchy and is having difficulty breathing. Which of the following is MOST probably occurring?

A.
B. Amoxicillin reacts with IgE and activates cytotoxic T cells to release lymphokines.
C.
D. IgE bound to antigen results in histamine release from mast cells.

The key says B. To me, this looks like a classic case of atopy/anaphylaxis, which I think D (with amoxicillin acting as the antigen) describes much better than B. Is this miskeyed? I didn't think cytotoxic T cells had anything to do with atopy.
