Microbiology Lab

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We were hardly ever told to wear gloves in undergrad microbiology, but my professor was old school and we weren't dealing with many frank pathogens besides Staph.

Is microbiology lab the norm?

We don't have it at my med school, but no clue if that's normal or not.

Why on earth is this a thing? Pointless waste of time.

Had a physician from South Africa who told me that doctors were expected to run their own labs.

Not sure if he made **** up. :naughty:

I bet he didn't make it up.

In the old days, doctors in the US ran their own labs.

I guess my school is the only one that has labs for micro. At least its a nice break from lecture, except for the having an exam over all the lab stuff at the end of the year

south africa is poor as ****. In the US, doctors send out for labs, they don't do them.
