Clinical micro made ridiculously simple is the best micro text book out there.

agreed. there is no substitute for CMMRS. as you go through the class, add info thats in your lecture notes that isnt in that book into it.

Its a tad thin as far as viruses. (I used my lecture notes and referenced Jawetz's full text book, Medical Microbiology, in my school's library as necessary) But between that and First Aid, you should be set. Some people recommend using the Jawetz Exam and Board review book as well.

Medical Microbiology & Immunology : Examination & Board Review
By Lavenson and Javetz....really thorough..but awesome..definately more detailed than Ridic simply Micro....I think it's a good reference if not an actual requied text

The lectures in microbiology at my school just didn't teach me anything although it seems most of my classmates were astute by the end of the course. I literally learned Microbiology in 4 weeks by reading Clinical Micro Made Easy in June preceding my Step I exam. The charts are fairly equivalent to the Micro Review cards that are out there. Lipincott is a fairly good book if you read well and quickly. The pictures are good. I had both.
