Ugh. Getting a flurry of IIs early (late July/early August) really got my hopes up, since everyone assured me that it was a good sign I'd get more IIs in the "peak months." Haven't heard anything besides Rs and holds from schools since mid-August, including one from my in-state alma mater 🙁

Very, very fortunate and grateful for the IIs I have gotten, however. I'd be happy at any one of them 🙂
I'm glad I'm not alone in this silence haha. I was in the same boat with everyone telling me I would get a ton in August and September, but I'm obviously so glad to have already interviewed at 2 schools that I loved. Maybe a few more will trickle in for us, and I'm hoping for good news for you in the coming weeks!

School responses have been the inverse of what I expected. Positive news from total reach schools I used as a practice for secondaries or had borderline joke answers for questions and Rs from in my range schools I put effort into. I got a poor GPA and an acceptable MCAT. I also told an interviewer we could start an international gambling ring to fund my tuition and his Tesla because the school was near a beach and we could easily make it to international waters by 3 pm most days. I got asked by close friends and significant others if I'm going to "be myself" at these interviews and it was suggested I should at least try and act a bit. I'm gambling hardcore this cycle.

Same exact experience. I've gotten IIs from incredibly low-yield schools that I thought I was just donating money to. Meanwhile, my in-state alma mater straight up says "lolbye" when I spent over a week on their secondary...Cycles are truly random af.

Also been getting love from low yield schools with 10,000+ applicants. Guess yield means nothing and fit means everything!

I came into the cycle nervous as hell since my pre med advisor strongly encouraged I take a gap year to retake my mcat. Completely shocked with having 6 II's so far, but just as most are saying it's been silence for a couple weeks now. Honestly expected 3-4 interviews max so happy even if I don't get any more. Top choice is Georgetown, it was my reach school but got a II from there somehow and loved everything about the program. Best of luck to everyone else! Scores don't seem to be everything so dont be discouraged if your mcat or gpa is below the median at every school you applied to like me lol

Yep. Every single interview I've attended, it became immediately apparent that every single person in the room just "fit" the mold of what the school was looking for. Very similar experiences and philosophies among all of us. I've felt at home at every single school, and I was so excited to meet new people with common interests and passions. Having the opportunity to create a close-knit community with my class is one the aspects I'm most excited about matriculating into medical school 🙂

They say nothing binds people together more than shared trauma/adversity 🤣

I’ve definitely noticed that at every single interview (sans one, might be a fluke) I’ve thought to myself “wow, all of these people are so cool and I want to be friends with them. I can see us all being classmates next year and getting along great!”
Hard to believe that it’s likely someone else also thought that about me!

+1 this has been almost my exact situation also. Hoping for IIs to come soon for all of us and end the silence

I think fit is over played. No one fits 23 schools. No one even fits 10 schools. Most schools give off their own vibe.

Great day for me.
LM 70. Applied to MANY MD/PHDS and MDs. Finally it looks like my application is getting seen by adcoms. Got 2 MD/PHDS IIs in aug, 1 MD in September, 1 MD on last friday and 2 more MDPHDS today.

1 R, 2 H, no II

Rip idk what went wrong, thought the cycle would go better than this. Maybe something off with my essays? I have 3 pubs and a bunch of other ECs so idk :/

Wow. Those stats put mind to shame. I’m surprised you haven’t gotten more love. Maybe you applied to reach schools? Or too late in the cycle? What about LORs? Or maybe med schools just put all applicants’ names with certain stats in a hat and pull from it to decide to who gets an interview. Who knows.

I didn't apply late (7/30). I did have some reach schools. Im really into research (as evident from my ECs) but research heavy schools tend to have v high stats haha, but I also applied to plenty of lower tier schools so idk

I think my LORs should've been fine :/ If anyone wants to read my PS and lmk if they think anything is off that would be great

but yeah no idea what's happening rip, will just have to reapply next year ig

pretty much same situation.
512/3.86 plenty research. I applied for lot md and md/phd schools. Till now have 5 Md phds vs 2 Mds. Until last friday I did not have any md interviews. Suddenly 2 popped up. The reason I say is MD schools definately look for more Health care experiance than research. But You will get picked up In second or third round of scanning. Do not worry.

Checking in. Application cycle is going way better than I ever anticipated. Seriously so many competitive and awesome applicants, this process must be very random because I feel lucky to have gotten a single II.

Enjoying meeting students and other interviewed and hearing everyone’s stories. Still hoping for some love from my top choice.

It does seem random, but there must be something incredibly compelling about your application for you to have received so many interviews! It seems likely you'll get in somewhere, but I'm hoping you hear something from your top choice 🙂

PSA for those who don't mind going DO, it's not too late to send out some DO apps (before Thanksgiving). My plan is to send a couple if I don't another II this month.

Edit: see below for some good advice

This is true but word to the wise their transcripts and mcat score verification on aacomas take timeeeee. Even if you are planning to apply soon get that ball rolling. It took me like 4 weeks last year when I tried to do AACOMAS In January. The transcript part takes a long time, then u have to manually send official mcat scores to aacomas which takes time, and then verification takes time.

DO classes are filling up too. Lots of acceptances have already gone out.

I’m curious. Why do you feel it didn’t go well? What felt off?

My faculty interviewer asked me some really weird questions and I can tell you specifics if you PM! I just don't wanna be identified just in case and tbh don't know how to PM on here lol

LM 70. Had the same thought. With me getting 5 MD/phd iis and 2 MD IIs I am probably not going to go DO route. Of the 5 MD/phds 2 of them are MDs simultenously. You need just 1 acceptance for not regretting do route. You never know how things turn out to be.

I'm not so sure about the fit thing so far, but I've gotten II's from pretty much the schools I expected to. In my experience, IS and connections to area have gotten me a lot of love, and as a re-applicant who never even got an interview before this cycle I feel deeply lucky. That being said, I have not heard from a number of schools where my ECs and story fit way better than the IS schools where I have gotten II's.

Curious Did you improve your MCAT or just the ECs you worked upon.
