Hi everyone, I'm really nervous about the group interview! This will be my first one! 🙁 I have my interview next week on the 27th. Will our chance of acceptance be slim at this point in the application cycle?

Absolutely not! I decided not to apply until about this time of year. I interviewed in April and found out less than a week after I applied. A lot of people I interviewed with got in. So don't fret! The group interview is easy and relaxing! No need to stress. My advice, if you know the answer, be the first to speak! I've saw a lot of comments when I was in your shoes that said to wait until others go to calm your nerves. If you don't want to be first, be second! JUST DON'T LET SOMEONE TAKE YOUR ANSWERS! Best advice I can give! If you have nothing new to add to the conversation, you will probably not stand out as much. The people that were last are not in my class now, so I am assuming they didn't get in. Good news though, the later you apply, the less time you have to wait to find out you got in!!! Best of Luck!

Hey everyone sorry i have been reading these like no other lately, I am going to be applying for the fall 2014 admission at the Downers Grove CCP and I can't help but to think to myself "what are my chances?" I am hoping to have a 3.2 or so by the time I apply and I will be retaking the PCAT in september and I really am studying a lot so i can get above the average score. I currently attend the University of Iowa and I am working on Pre-Reqs and somewhat towards a biochemistry degree (I did residency in the state of Iowa for cheaper tuition so i fell behind with classes) Anywho I am originally from St. Charles, IL and I would love to move back home again. I have been a Pharmacy Technician at Walmart Pharmacy for about 6 months now and I continue on staying with them. In terms of diversity do you think it makes a difference if I am part of "minority" I know some schools have different outlooks on that. Some extracurriculars- I am involved with dance marathon here on campus which provides year round support for pediatric cancer patients at the university hospital.
I guess overall I just want to know that if my GPA does fall a tad bit low but i do well on the PCAT do i still have a shot of getting in?
I feel hopeless! I am applying to Iowa's pharmacy program too since it's been my dream school for a while but just recently i really started to like the idea of midwestern downers grove.

Yeah i got in with a 3.1 and 92 pcat. Just do well on your pcat and keep adding to your stats.

I've been accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :d :d:d :d

Just noticed that MWU-Chi extended the supplemental deadline to April 1st. Does anyone know of any upcoming interview dates for March? I recently submitted my supplemental, but have not heard from the school yet. Thanks

Is it possible to be on the alternative list and then without any e-mail notification from the school, find out through the website that I just got accepted? (I hope I don't sound stupid.)

It seems unreal and I need clarification.

Midwestern changes their portal first for the accepted students.
Then they'll call you in a few days I believe!

I just got accepted!! So relieved!! Congratulations to everyone else!!
Interviewed on 2/1

Congrats everyone!!! It does seem so unreal with just the portal being changed and no other notification. Where is everyone coming from? I'm from Michigan! :soexcited:

I'm coming from Michigan too; Wayne State University. I am beyond excited!! 😀

AWESOME!!!!! Congratulations everyone!! I remembered just weeks ago when I choked on my lunch upon seeing the portal changes! I love MWU and I had my sights on the school for seven years now ^_^ You can imagine how happy I was!

Did any of you interview 2/15? I don't see anything in my portal and i'm kinda really bummed. Does this school actually reject people, or do they ALL en up in the waiting list? During my interview, the lady said something about sending in any new information or at least a letter of intent, unfortunately, i dont have any new info just yet. Should I send a letter? What do you guys think?

I interviewed back in January still nothing.. I guess I'm going to Maryland.

I'm not sure about the "all" part but I have not heard about them rejecting people. What I DO know is that they flat out rejected me for the 6-year dual acceptance program with another undergraduate university four years ago (now, this is me in high school) hence I have to do my bachelor's degree to strengthen my application in order to reapply- which I mentioned during the interview for my brownie points 😀 That being said, I think that a letter of intent does NOT hurt your chances and I think you should totally submit one if you can. Personally, I don't know if it would makes any difference. I also heard around the forums that they accepted a LOT of people from the wait list since many in-state students favor UIC and the admissions over at UIC had their first round of interviews just weeks ago. I am thankful that I am accepted because the wait would just kill me, so I feel for you!

But then again, Feb 15 is quite close to the admissions meeting date (which I assume that it was yesterday) so it just means that they did not even look at the batch of interviews on your date yet! In that case, maybe e-mail them or call them to ask to make sure so that you're sure what's going on.

I got accepted on the portal as well! I was on the waitlist (interviewed 12/12) but didn't get an email

Did either of you interview on November 28th? I'm only asking because I remember 2 students in my interview group who were from Wayne State

I got accepted this morning from waitlist. I interviewed back in October. Then wait listed December and emailed this morning yay!!!

I am so happy! Got an acceptance e-mail today! I interviewed on 02/13...
😍

I'm stuck between Roosevelt and Midwestern too I guess I'll pay the deposit for both

Just got my acceptance email this morning. I was really surprised because I just interviewed last Friday 2/15!!!!!!

What do you like about Roosevelt

3 year program, cost, distance, smaller class sizes.

The only thing holding me back is the accreditation and it's not a well known school (networking, job obtainability might be a little difficult)

Nope that wasn't me. I interviewed on 2/1. Are you from Michigan?!

How's the cafeteria food?! I'm kinda leaning away from the meal plan. Does anybody know if there's a grocery store nearby and if there's any close restaurants or fast food spots ??

Redwood 2 vs Redwood 1
Is the extra $1000 for Redwood 2 worth it? I've heard that the rooms in Redwood 1 are more spacious. Drywall vs cinder block walls; does it really make a difference? I appreciate any input! Thanks in advance.

I just got into UIC so I'll be giving up my spot. Hope that frees up a spot for somebody.

Does anyone know how much of the $1000 deposit is refundable??

I'd be most concerned with the latter...

Only $100. Assuming you send a letter of withdrawal before 30 days of matriculation.

YES 🙂
Many of my classmates work at their pharmacies. I work at Student Services, other classmates work at the Wellness Center. Working is possible.

For anyone looking at flights from the Southern California region, any round-trip ticket that is less than $300 is GOOD. My off-peak tickets are usually $275 or $280 🙂

Christmas it can go up to $500 🙁

thank you so much jkong! I noticed that you are from California, I am from Cali too 🙂 Do you come back during the summer to work as an intern here? I plan on coming back to Cali during the summer but I think I need a California intern license, not Illinois intern license... im pretty confused

My portal changed and it says that I've been accepted. It has the option to agree or deny the admission into the program. It shows the matriculation agreement of $1000, but I didn't get an email from the school. Is this normal?

This might be a stupid question because I might be over looking it.. Where was the option for the laptop after you paid the deposit??

Hello everyone, as the interview date is getting closer for me, I have checked the forecast for this upcoming tuesday and wednesday and there are a possible chance of snow. I'm really nervous because I'm from Cali and never driven in snow before. For those who are/were in my shoes, how did you guys deal with this situation? Thanks!

As a first time person living on campus, what are some things that I should bring?

Hey, I was on the wait list too ( interviewed back in november) just got an email on friday that I've been accepted! So maybe they didn't get around too contacting you! I have already put down a deposit for UOP in Cali. So I'm unsure of what to do? Any input UOP vs MWU??

make a pro/con list.

UOP - more expensive, but it's 3 years
MWU - cheaper, but it's 4 years

UOP - Stockton <-- unsafe
MWU - Downer's Grove <-- safe

etc etc.

I actually don't see any option for selecting a laptop either... I was looking for it earlier today.

I got accepted, too! I never checked the portal site, but my email came in two days ago!
I interviewed on 2/1! c:

I got accepted, I wasn't wait listed.I just thought it was weird that I didn't get an email but the portal was updated to accepted status. I interviewed 2/13 and the school got back quick!! 🙂 congrats on getting accepted!!! 🙂

In my interview they said that you don't get to pick anymore, they're all gonna be macbooks.

Hello everyone, I have a question about the format of the interview. I'm reading on the interview feedback page and some people are saying that they ask in the introduction 3-4 questions all at once like introduce yourself, where are you from, what major are you, why pharmacy, why mwu and one unique thing about yourself. Do they ask all these questions all at once like this or will each question be separate? If these questions are asked all at once, will it be ok if we take a long time addressing all these questions because that's alot to answer in one introduction! :scared:

The interview is very relaxed. Just remember that everyone is also in the same exact situation as you are in. They ask roughly 3-5 questions at separate times. They'll ask everyone to introduce themselves and then interviewers will talk a bit about their own background/experience. After that, the real questions are asked. My interviewers kept referring to a sheet of paper that had a list of possible questions. Each student will answer each question before they ask another one.

Best of luck! Don't stress over it too much. You'll come off more personable if you are relaxed.

lol. I've heard a majority pick macbooks anyways. I forgot where the option is for picking the laptop, but there is definitely an option somewhere on there

Hey guys..I'm interviewing the 28th and am surprised I even received one because of my grades. Does anyone know if Midwestern even accepts someone with stats like mine?

PharmCAS overall GPA: 2.51
Science GPA: 2.7
Graduate GPA: 3.8
PCAT: 90 composite

My undergraduate GPA is pretty poor and it took me a couple of years to get it back up..I have a bachelor of Science degree and am going to finish my MS degree this year. I have over 2 years of retail pharmacy experience as well as pharmacy volunteer experience and a lot of extracurriculars. Any input is appreciated!

Yes Midwestern totally accepts students with stats like yours 🙂 If I were reviewing your application, I would just think that you made some mistakes when you were younger so your undergraduate GPA suffered (that, or your university was killer). Although your GPA may not reflect it, it still looks like you learned the material from undergrad with your 90 pcat composite. From your grad gpa, it also looks like you've revamped your study habits and are on an upward trend. Plus, with your pharmacy experience, you seem like a great candidate!

Don't be discouraged. You're just as qualified as any of the other applicants you'll be interviewing with. If it still bothers you, remember it's a closed file interview so the faculty that will be interviewing you know nothing about your stats anyway. Good luck! 👍
