Midwestern, CCP (c/o 2017)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I also interviewed 1/9. I still haven't heard anything back yet...should I take this as a no then? It doesn't make sense that other people who interviewed with me heard back but I didn't

This probably means you will get an actual letter in the mail saying you are waitlisted. This happened to me.

I wonder too

I interviewed 12/12, and got a physical letter around very end of december or beginning of January. So about a couple weeks but less than a month

I see. Thanks. It doesn't say your rank or anything right?

I was told by the staff that the waiting list wasn't ranked. I wonder how that works because my second PCAT scores (much improved by the way) went in AFTER they put me on the waiting list and they have my scores now but they didn't pull me from that list this month. Wonder when they're meeting in Feb

It's a lottery

so.....basically it doesn't even matter that I've vastly improved my PCAT score. It's a matter of luck? I remember one of the ladies giving us an examples of how someone in a waiting list could get in if they have improved application factors sent in after put on the waiting list....but at this point I don't even know

I see...well it's comin up on a month and still haven't heard anything. They seemed like they got back to people fast when I interviewed.

At my interview (Nov. 28), they said that at each meeting that the AdComs have, they will review the waitlisted applicants and will pull some off of there each time. There is no ranked list, but if you improved your PCAT, they will notice that and hopefully accept you!

for current students, do you think its possible to do work study while doing pharmacy program in first year? 😳

Hi

I was wondering how stats are weighted at Midwestern. With group interviews, it doesn't seem like it would count for a large portion of admission consideration. I interviewed in Jan and I haven't heard anything yet, which leads me to believe that I'm wait listed. I'm not sure what would get me off the wait list either since I've already finished my undergrad and I'm not retaking the PCAT. Here are my stats is there any reason they would take me off the wait list?

PCAT: 90
GPA: 2.7
2 Board positions within 4 extra curriculars
and I'm a certified pharmacy technician at a community (1.5 years) and hospital pharmacy (6 months)

I got an interview invite for feb 15!!! I'm super excited, but SUPER nervous. I'm gonna be traveling from Puerto Rico and I'm sorta scared because the coldest temperature I've ever been in the 60's. I checked the forecast and its gonna be in the 20's. lol. Anyways, any interview tips? I REALLY need to get tinto this school, my stats aren't impressive and I don't have many other options. Any feedback will be appreciated 😀

What are your stats?

The interview is in a group. So you will be in a group with other students during the interview.

As far as interview questions, you can look at the interview feedback page.

As for interview tips... do you work/ volunteer in a pharmacy before? If you can bring in examples from those in your responses, I think it's a big plus (obviously ^_^). Body language, eye contact, clear answers and generally, appear confident. Chill out too! If your fellow interviewee is saying something funny, laugh- it helps calm you and everyone else down. At my interview, it was very laid back though I noticed there were a couple of people who are quite tensed... so you are not alone if you are nervous! oh and please don't forget to SMILE!! - it tends to make you look amicable, people-person, and generally pulls other people right in! =) You will be fine =)

Wow!! Thank you!!!! This is all supre good advise!! I hope I do good!! I can't wait to go to Chicago! 🙂 Are you already admitted to this school?

Yes, I am already admitted 😍 and paid my deposit =) Looking forward (at the time of the application), I was very anxious, worried, neurotic, looking back (after I found out I got accepted) I was like... that was a lot of pressure I put on myself and that I feel it is actually a LOT easier than I make it out to be!

How much does it cost you to fly to Chicago? Are you all packed? (the weather is absolutely cold here so please pack a lot of winter clothes) I'm from Chicago so I get envious when other people fly in for their interviews =) it's much "cooler" and more of an "event" flying than driving.😀

Well, the plane ticket was $380ish round trip ... not too bad. I'm not even a little packed, I'm SUPER busy with school and work this week, and I have to get everything done by the time I leave. To be honest, I dont have ANY winter clothes, I think i'm just gonna survive off of whatever coat my mom gives me. (she has winter wear cuz she moved to the states for a while.) Quick question, Do we have to bring a portfolio? Did anyone bring one? I have to do whatever it takes to stand out :/

Most ppl at my interview didn't have portfolio.

YES 🙂
Many of my classmates work at their pharmacies. I work at Student Services, other classmates work at the Wellness Center. Working is possible.

For anyone looking at flights from the Southern California region, any round-trip ticket that is less than $300 is GOOD. My off-peak tickets are usually $275 or $280 🙂

Christmas it can go up to $500 🙁

Does anyone know when committee is meeting this month?

I got placed on the alternative list. Since MWU doesn't have listed ranking for people on the waiting list, how do they choose students of the list when there's a spot opened? What is the likeliness of getting accepted when under the alternative list?

I have yet to complete the social/behavioral prerequisite. I have 8 quarter units and need to fufill 1 more unit so I am taking a community college course this spring semester.

Yea... I wonder how they do alternate list.. Shady

At my interview, they said the committee will review all new candidates AND those on the waiting list at each meeting they have. If you send in an extra LOR or you have a new PCAT score to send or you complete some classes with good grades, these could all affect if you get pulled off the waitlist. I also believe they said you can be accepted up until the first week of classes (September).

Just wait it out, as more people accept admissions offers from other schools, they will decline MWU and it will open up more seats. Good luck!

im having a hard time deciding between midwestern chicago vs. howard dc. anyone have anymore input that can sway me in one direction or the other?

midwestern chicago - accepted
howard university - accepted
university of hawaii - accepted - declined offer
rosalind franklin - accepted - declined offer

shenandoah university - waitlisted
university of oklahoma - waitlisted

texas tech - waiting
lecom bradenton - waiting
university of north texas - waiting

drake - yet to interview

Compare cost and NAPLEX passing rate!!! Which school gave you the best impression?? There's so many things to ask yourself.

howard had a 100% passing rate for their last class lol and its cheaper but that doesnt mean theres still no comparison.... its the experience and the quality of education also connections you make in 4 years.

anyhoo i forfeited both my seats at both universities, im going to FLORIDA 😎

LECOM BRADENTON CLASS OF 2017

If I was rejected would it tell me in the portal? I'm assuming I am rejected because I haven't gotten an interview invite or anything but all it says on the portal is that my application is complete. Would it say if I was rejected?

I don't think that Midwestern is straightforward with their rejection. You should e-mail them or call them and ask for the status of your application- maybe that is the only way you will know.

I think they wait until the end of the interview cycle to send rejection letters to the applicants who didn't interview, until then they might still be considering you. I went to an interview today and they said they have over 2000 applicants and that they interview around 600 .... i think they interview anyone meeting their minimum requirements which is a general and science 2.5 gpa and meet all their pre-reqs. give them a call just in case! good luck!

I dunno if they interview everyone who meets requirement.. Why would over a thousand ppl apply if they don't meet the minimum requirements.. Waste of money

Good luck! =) It is important not to obsessed over it! I was so stressed out during the wait that I bomb all of my first exams of the semester XD Not good!

FINALLY submitted my supplemental application! I know its SUPER LATE in the cycle, but hopefully there are still some seats left!?!?!?

Anyone know what interview dates are still available for Feb or March? Thanks

I just got offered an interview for march 6🙂 I am very excited! Anyone have any recommendations of a nice hotel that isn't too expensive? Also how is the group interview setting?

It's chill. I rented a car and stayed in nice hotel 40 bucks in Hoffman estates

I stayed at Stay Inn, I paid around $70 for one night and it was pretty decent.
As for the group interview, I didn't like the fact that there were 5 interviewees and only 2 interviewers. It lasted about 55 minutes but I didn't think that they can really get to know their candidates within that short amount of time, although it was pretty casual. Oh and each question was just free for all. I almost felt like I had to compete to answer first lol. I don't mean to sound discouraging, but I wanted to let you know how I felt throughout the interview process and sorta let you know what to expect!

Good luck!! 🙂

No worries if you answered last either! I was the last to chirp my responses for the majority of the questions =D

Oh thanks!! I was worried about that because I tend to be very passive and don't like cutting anyone off or anything! Were you accepted??
