not yet (nov 19)

I think they post all the acceptances on Interact at once (like sometimes early in the morning), and if you didn't see any changes on the website, then you probably end up being on the alternate list or getting rejected. I haven't heard of any rejection from anyone yet, at least from the SDN population. It seems like A LOT of people are on the alternate list right now, although I do know some friends who have gotten accepted.

When will Midwestern CCP begin to pull interviewees from the waitlist? I have read on this thread that the Admission Committe begins to pull interviewees in January and even as early as this month. I am trying to be optimistic but it seems to be more logical that the Admission Committee will begin to start pulling from May-August because April is the last interview month. Once the Admission Committee has selected the best applicants in terms of (GPA/PCAT/LORs/interview score/pharmacy experience) and still has open seats, the interviewees from the list will begin to be taken off the list. Well, I hope they start pulling people off the list this month.

Remember they always have more new students waiting for the interviews.

This is irrelevant, IMHO, since they utilize rolling admissions.
Then why did they not accept us in the beginning? If it were rolling admission like they said, we should have been accepted like other students. We had an interview every early of the cycle. For some other schools, being put in an alternative list is the same thing being rejected in a nicest way to say. Certainly, I do not want to turn your hope down. I think you should apply for few more schools instead of waiting for them to review your application again.🙂

I thought you were accepted to 3 schools already and put a deposit on NOVA....

BELOW IS PURELY SPECULATION AND OPINION NOT BASED ON ANY FACT:

Previous posts suggest that their system is very conservative and they like to take the top students in first and see if they don't go anywhere else. Then when there are 55% or so seats filled they will start to take in the waitlisted. So with about 500 interviews and 200 seats, lets say they accept 200 or so students (or decline before accpetance) and only 110 of them decide to attend CCP, then wailisted students will be competing with 250 or so students (maybe 50 or so (very few to maybe none) who are rejected) for the last 90 spots. So in some sense waitlist has a decent chance unless majority of those that were accepted decide to go to MWU, but still less than 50% chance for waitlisters against others who have very similar stats is tough. Now because of economy there may be more interviews given this year which may reduce chances for waitlisted compared to last year... no one but the adcoms would know that, so really no one has an answer.. just have to wait patiently and cross your fingers. Also note that those waitlisted might get into schools they would rather attend than MWU, in that case you will have better chance since they will be declining their spot). If they see a lot drop out and go to other school towards next year they might pull more off waitlist which would improve everyone's chances. It stinks for us, but it gives them the chance to accept top students for their last interview instead of leaving only a few seats left thereby losing out on some of the late applicants with great stats/experience/etc

OK this is what I heard when I was there at CCP. The lady explained 3 possible answers:" Accepted" ," Alternative List", and "Rejection". She said if you are put in an AL, we only review your application again 1 week before the school start. I remembered clearly because I was surprised by that statement. I wondered how could someone be able to go to the school if he only knew 1 week before the school start. I thought it was ridiculous. Then she said if you are rejected, your application will not be further reviewed. I am not lying to you. I heard this very clear. I was on group 3.

What I heard is consistent with what Yiyao thought. They want to wait untill the last student who is going to have an interview. Then, they will review waitlisted students only if many students leave the school and the last student, who is accepted, do not fill the size.

Last year, there were some students who got pulled out earlier. This could be an exception year because many students left the school too early.

I ask myself a question: why do they waitlist a student? The most common reason could be due to academic insufficiency. Remember, if they waitlist you, they already compare you not only with the current students, but also accepted students from last year. Thus, it is less likely for them to consider you equally to the rest of the students who are going to have interview.

Reading this thread makes me more depressed by the day (that was a slight exaggeration)... but you definitely hit the nail on the head because I was trying to ask that from a P1 student here. Though I think what they are doing now is something they decided to change for this year's class. I know they recent changed for curriculum for the current p1 students... perhaps they are also doing it for the admissions process.

See, I heard it differently. I remember she said that they start pulling people out of the waitlist (I don't remember when her saying WHEN) and stop one week before school starts. All I know is, she was saying that they have had people who matriculated as late as the week before school started. I know the same friend of mine who goes here finally got into Temple off the waitlist a couple days before school started. By the way, I interviewed on the 12th of last month.

Everyone, if you are waitlisted, I am sorry to hear. However, I know how it feels to wait for them to pull you out. Last year, I was waitlisted at nova, and it took me almost 4 months to know I was on the waitlist. It took me the rest of the year to keep hoping they would pull me out. I was wrong, they never. I was regret of wasting too much energy on waiting for the school. I could have applied for more schools, and maybe I could get in already. So, do not waste too much energy on waiting, and hoping since you can't do anything at this moment. Putting your hope to the next school is a much better thinking. You sure you write an decent essay on your secondary application for your next school.

dont worry guys...they start pulling from the alternate list at the beginning of january all the way till the end of august. You'll be notified by a phone call not by email or regular mail. Just stick with it and you'll be straight cuz like i said they pull A LOT! =)

This would be the more correct information. They do interviews, start sending out acceptances after that. If you decline, that opens a spot. If you are waitlisted, they keep you in the batch of people every time adcom reviews profiles. People get pulled off the waitlist all the time.

You had actually heard wrong. What they said is that they pull people off the wait list UP UNTIL a week before classes start. They waitlist people because UIC is the other school in the area, and they do not hold interviews until about March or April. Many other out of schools are the same way. So anyone that put a deposit down at MWU and then gets accepted there or somewhere else, tells them that they actually are declining and a position opens up. This can happen whenever, which is why they can start pulling off the wait list whenever, depending on the new candidates being interviewed.

Ah, then I am wrong. Hope is given back to waitlisted students:meanie:

As you are all waiting for responses about getting in and talking about the waitlist, I just FINALLY got an interview invite for December 17th!! I was so excited, until I realized I have two finals that day. Now I'm freaking out 🙁

Obviously you can't skip out on your finals. Call MWU and ask to be interviewed in the next group.

you could also try to arrange to take the finals at another time. I've done that before

hey guys who were interviewed on the 19 nov, did anybody hear from them? i taught we were supposed to know our fate within 2wks.

5minutes, I would have to disagree with you based on what you said about interviewees being taken off the waitlist only 1 week before classes start in the fall because when I was at the interview the admission counselor explicitly said that they pull interviewees off the waitlist throughout the admission cycle until the first week of classes. xshooshix recalls the same statement being made at the interview. I do agree with you that everyone on the alternate list should apply to a few other schools. I am seeing a trend of why people are placed on the alternate list and like you said it is most likely because of academic insufficiency (either GPA or PCAT scores). Since the average competitive statistics for an accepted student seems to range between 3.3-3.4 and 75-80 PCAT, interviewees who do not meet these statistics are placed on the alternate list.

hey dibango, the nov 19th interviewees are suppose to know their result 2 weeks in dec. So we still have one more week. By the way, who were u at the interview.

I believe is more of the high 80s-90s PCAT. I remember reading somewhere that 5minutes got a score in the 80s, but still got in the alternate list. Crazy, huh? I thought a score like that would get you accepted right away.

I got a score in the 80s and was also waitlisted. 😎

Ummm, here is what he said his pcat score was. It makes no sense though.

This is my score:
Verbal: 29
Biology: 30
Reading: 31 (i don't not know how to read no well)
Quantitative: 32
Chemistry: 33
Composite: 99

Though, adcom is really weird sometimes about the people they invite for interviews. Agreed.

Dude, you are not a logical person at all. With a 33% at each section that gives me 99% at composite? C'mon. It was just a funny reply. I got in pharmacy school, why do I care of getting a 99% or not.

I wrote that reply for a pervious person who got very high score on the Pcat.

Then you are obviously not a logical person. You act like you want to give helpful advice on this forum, but then ALL of your posts show bogus information. If you are going to say something, be honest and practical. It helps no one when you put crap on this board. You just dont make any sense.

Wow! Are you serious? Did you sneeze in front of your interviewers??

I left the interview feeling pretty good. My GPA is good, I'm getting a BS degree, and I have substantial hospital experience, and currently work at a pharmacy.

Bad luck, I guess. Oh well. Maybe I'll have better luck at UIC.

I'm PRETTY sure they are picking the cream of the crop. Plus you're in-state, which doesn't make sense. Sorry to hear about that... I bet you're at the top of their waiting list priority. :luck:

That's ok. I was disappointed at first, but I'm over it 🙂

HAHA NO WAY. I was in ur interview group. I was the asian guy sitting to ur left with a yellow tie. We talked outside after the essay question (the guy who never made it to the shuttle). Man this waiting is driving me crazy.

what a small world. this waiting game is not funny. i check my mails and fone like crazy. but i guess we dont have a choice. hope it pays for all the anxiety. good luck

Quit picking on 5 minutes! I think he's the funniest thing on this board! And that's meant as a compliment. Something to distract me from my anxious waiting.

You're right! I was just being funny in this forum. They were trying to criticize me with any possible mistake that I made in my post.

Haha, I read somewhere that you're an older applicant. Don't you have any other obligations than floating around these SDN forums? LOL, I really do enjoy your posts though. They keep me entertained 😀

How did yall feel about the interview today....Sandoz,I was hoping to meet u but...I didnt. I was at the interview today and I was comparing all the stuff that 5minutes said and what the girl told us and there was so much disparity.

Therefore, I move a motion to eject 5minutes from this blog. I have had so much of u already. People come to this forum to get first hand information about schools. When some one takes out to give bogus information, it defeats the whole purpose of such forum like this. It makes people skeptical about the info on the forum. It misleads people. In my opinion, that is ground for dismissal. Does anyone second that?

 First, I do not work for the forum, I do not work for the school you apply to, I am not a professor in your school. Second, if you ask your people's opinion, then yes that is what you get. You can have a right source, or a wrong one because that is people's opinion. Finally, you have freedom to listen to whatever people said, and you also have freedom not to listen to whatever people said.

What are you trying to say? Are you trying to insult me? I dont understand your jibber jabber. How is me giving honest and practical information "not logical"? You put false information on this forum and I find it very insulting.

Thanks chief. My LOR was sent in very late so I'm not shocked I haven't gotten an invitation yet. You were Rejected last year weren't you? Second times the charm. 👍

Lighten up!!

There needs to be some humour in this forum!!

Anyway, the actual stats of 5minutes are:

80 PCAT with around the following breakdown

37 Reading
43 Verbal
99 Chemistry
90 Quantitative
60 Biology

80 Composite

His GPA is 3.85 and he does not have a bachelors degree but has completed
many upper division science courses probably about 3 out of the 4 years required for bachelors in chemistry (biochem I and biochem II, microbiology, analytic chemistry) completed in addition to the lower division science classes. First two years at CC, one year at university with comparable grades to the CC.

No direct pharmacy experience, but some shadowing of a pharmacist, with a letter of recommendation

Applied to 3 schools

1. Accepted at Nova
2. Accepted at Palm Beach Atlantic
3. Waitlisted at Midwestern-CCP

A deposit was put on Nova

That is his stats

He was just joking much of the time!!
Instead of constantly checking the Interact, if you did not apply to enough
schools, now is the time to add a few more.

Last year, 5minutes only applied to Nova since it is about 10 minutes from where he lives.
He was very frustrated when he applied and 4 months later, he got waitlisted, to never be pulled
off.

So this year, he applied to two other schools.

The moral of this story: never just rely on getting into a single school, even if it is your first choice.

My stats aren't great except for the GPA. I still make it to pharmacy school, so everyone else.

I think people are on the edge over the interview process for this particular school. I'm been laughing behind the monitor at the banter between you two.

I have three other interviews coming up, I haven't decided if I even want to fly over to one of them as they are not accredited yet. Economy's down and someone's gotta pay the bills! Yes, I do agree that we shouldn't rely on just one school, but I can't help it. 😳

I'm starting to regret not doing my supplementals for Western as I had a really good shot of getting in. 👎

Then why doesn't he just post his "real" stats then. You have to admit, to someone new, his posts can seem very deceiving and make people question the reliability of this forum. I think you were wrong about the stats though... Either way, if he REALLY DID get in, good for him. 2nd year applying is not bad.

I have 2.89 GPA and still got in my top choice school.

Gpa 2.89
Science: 3.1
Pcat: 75
No pharmacy experience
No volunteer
No Bachelor.

I am still proud to post these numbers up here.

That stats is to help the person of that post who have a low GPA, and doubt about themself of not be able to get in pharmacy school. I was just giving them some motivation by saying I had a low GPA, and still got in. Certainly, if I say I have 3.86 GPA, and 80% on the Pcat, they will feel bad and lose hope. People ask for others' stats simply they want to feel some hope from others who have similar to thier stats.

Another thing, I got in already, why do I have to care about people in this forum anyway? But I still do somehow because I feel sympathy for those who are waiting. Certainly, I might give some information that might not be right, but that is not in my intention.

And sometimes I even said things funny, but it does not kill anyone. Just enjoy it, and forget it. If you try to keep it in your mind, it will make you crazy because I am not gonna write a logical book about my real life in this forum.
