Quick question. Do you need to reserve space for hotel shuttles or they'll just make rounds?

Well, anyone know how likely it is to be pulled off the alternate list? Or should I just assume that I'm not getting in?

I have the same question. Today I overheard one of my classmates saying that Midwestern accepts a lot of people off the alternate list come April when people hear from UIC. A lot of people choose to go to UIC instead, because it's cheaper, so that will free up a couple of spots.

I also read in one of the old threads that some guy was taken off the waiting list as early as December. That gives me some hope. You don't know how sad I am right now, because I didn't apply to many schools. Now I have to start looking at other schools... Sigh.

How do you know?

I don't know why but my dad separated my Midwestern envelope from the rest of the mail, and I didn't come across it until later. They put me on the alternate list. I wonder if anyone actually got rejected?

Would you mind sharing your stats?

I'm in the same boat as you. I guess all we can do is try other schools in the meantime and hope for the best. I could have sworn they said the wait-list was random- or do they review your application every time a spot comes available?

I know on the Interact, it lists that they've received your PCAT score, supplemental app, and 2 letters of recommendation. I submitted 3 letters of rec before I received an interview. On the Interact, it didn't say anything regarding my third letter of rec. Do any of you guys know whether they only look at the first two letters they receive or do they look at all the letters but just say that I have met their 2 letters requirement? Just wondering, so I can decide on my letters of rec to be sent with the letter of intent. Hope this doesn't sound too confusing to you guys.

I don't know about other hotels but for comfort inn, you just tell them that you need the shuttle when you check in and give them a call when you want them to pick you up.

I think they look at all 3, but only list 2 for the requirements. But you should probably call them to find out for sure. I'm sending them a letter of intent too. Good luck to everyone! Getting pulled from the alternate list should be our new goal from now on 👍

good luck everyone!

Got my letter today, and fortunately, its not a rejection.

I made the alternate list.

I'd like to know how many they have already accepted and how many they placed on the alternate list.

I assume they will review the alternates any time they have someone turn down an acceptance as well as review our files each time they make admission decisions.

What do you guys think?

exactly, that's pretty much what they do with the alternate list. So i would try to send in a letter of intent ASAP and any additional letters of recs directly to the school. It will definitely help your file when they review it again.

also a lot of people get pulled off the alternate list...i mean A LOT! haha

What do you mean by "a lot"? Like 10% of the people on the alternate list, or like 90%? I hope it's the latter... 😎

i'd say about 25-30% of our class got in off the alternate list....that's just a rough estimate cuz i know a lot of people i talked to came in off the waitlist.

Wow that's actually a large percentage. So how do you like being a student at CCP?

PharmCAS stats show 300 accepted and the class size of 200, so it would seem like 100 students were pulled from the alternate list. That would be 50%.

I'm ready for people to start turning down their acceptances so I can go to Midwestern!!!

yeah i wouldn't be surprised if half my class was off the waitlist haha but it seems like that's due to the fact that people out here prefer going to UIC and midwestern is their backup choice. Just be optimistic and you'll get pulled off the list in no time!

How did you get 50% from that?

Me too! Me too! Midwestern CCP is my #1 choice for out-of-state, beside the ones in Cali of course! I had just submitted my PharmCAS for Midwestern CPG earlier because I heard their supplemental app is very similar to the one for CCP.

300 is the total they accepted, not the total admitted. The size of the admitted class is 200, so if they accepted 300, then the difference is 100 that would have been pulled off the alternate list. 100/200 = 50%

Now I'm wondering if 300 is the number of people who paid the $1000 seat deposit and 100 people forfeited their deposit. I guess technically someone who straight up declined their admission offer was never accepted. In this scenario, they would reach even deeper into the alternate list.

Cool. Let's be optimistic. We're all gonna get in. No worries 😎

Hi everyone! Is anyone else attending the Nov 12th interview??? Sounds like it will be the third round of interviews?!? I'm so excited! I fly out tomorrow!

Too bad i can't, I registered for the 19th since the 12th was too soon of a notice. So, who is going to the 19th with me? anyone interested in slipping a room with me. I booked a room at comfort inn

Alright...newcomers to the thread.

FYI...comfort inn is a great place to stay..it's about 5 minutes away from the school.

:luck:

Glad to hear, that's where i booked my room. They also have a shuttle to midwestern and back. After the interview, I will have an hour or two to visit chicago. Anyone have any recommendations of places i should visit before i leave?

I'm not sure if you'll have enough time. Downers Grove is 25 miles away from the "fun" part of Chicago, so that will be quite a bit of traveling. If you had the whole night though, there's at least a billion of things to do.

Oh yeah. Word of advice -- be prepared! It's in the mid-30's to 40's right now, so bring a jacket or coat.

I heard besides the cold weather, it can get pretty humid. Anyone know how humid? Sticky? I live in phoenix arizona, so any humidity is humid! haha. We just have the pleasant 120 degree summers with zero humidity.

It could get humid in the summer. We experience the two extremes here in Chicago -- it could get really hot in the summer, and unbearably cold in the winter. Occasionally it's nice, especially in September/October, and May/June.

Define really hot, please.

Hot as in 90's... but that won't be a problem if you're from Arizona, Texas, Florida, etc. 😛 It doesn't stop anyone from going out and having fun...

Since slightly over 500 people are interviewed, I wonder how many interviewees are placed on the alternate list. If I were to take a guess, it would probably be 150-180 interviewees.

I'm hoping its closer to 100 than what you have suggested. Since they seemingly accept around 100 from the alternate list. If your guess is accurate, then, that would suggest 120-150 interviewees are rejected without being an alternate.

Low, mid or upper 90s? That's a huge difference. I'm hoping for mid to upper 80s most of the summer! That would be wonderful!

There will definitely be a few days that even reach 100 degrees, but that would be 2 weeks in a row. Mid to upper 80's is pretty normal for summer days. But its a really humid kind of hot, not dry heat.

Crazy midwest and it's humidity....

I just flew into chicago from california and it is pretty cold here...and raining. Wish me luck my interview is tomorrow!

Hope you do well man and keep us updated on ur experience.

Good luck to those who are interviewing right now! :luck:

Heyyyy everyone...
I was just skimming through the posts here and looks like a lot of people has been accepted and waitlisted already. I wasnt planning on applying to Midwestern since i didnt want to go out of state...(especially because of the money 🙁 ). Now i have finally made up my mind and decided to appy anyway...but is it too late to apply?

I will be opening up a spot for those waitlisted as I declined my acceptance today. I still feel that Midwestern is a quality school that will produce successful pharmacists. Those of you that attend, I wish you the best!

Sorry to hear you will not be attending Midwestern. Have you made a choice on Mercer or LECOM - Bradenton yet, or are you holding out on another school?

I am pretty set on Mercer. Their program has the most to offer in prestige, clinical rotations, job opportunities, research, alumni base, and national recognition. If any of you get a chance to interview at Mercer, check out their historic display area. They are one of the oldest pharmacy schools in the nation being established in 1903.
